Been reading back and forth on the povs of staticmoth's first meeting 'cause I can't help but notice something.... Val looks back fondly on his first meeting with Vox while Vox remembers being in constant paranoia around him, fearing he would seduce him into being one of his many whores but that was only for a little while until, well, now.
Val's side tells a sweet story of a Dorky Overlord trying to team up with a Rising Porn Director, but is badly hiding his attraction to him that borderlines obsession.
Vox's side views it as a dangerous risk, too well aware of Val's inhumane tendencies but the benefits and his own sexual attraction outweighed his fears but it never went away.
Pretty sad that Vox doesn't view it the same way as Val does but it does paint a clear picture of Val's own blindness to the extent of the harm his abusiveness reaches.
His relationship with Vox would have been made official if he hadn't made it clear being an Overlord was Vox's only safety net from him, anyone below that status might as well be his potential plaything. V.V
Sorry for the long ask, too much time in my hands lately and couldn't get it out it my head :3. But do want to ask if my analysis is spot on? Or am I missing something?
I love Staticmoth and its getting very hard to see that as the end game since well... chap 17. How does a relationship recover from that?
It feels like expecting a rape victim to go back to having a relationship with his rapist and that really doesn't sit well for me... I know it wasn't actually rape but mental rape is still... you know...
Val would have to do something HUGE to make it okay again and I don't think letting Angel go out his contract would be enough so hopefully, I'll find out someday.
Your an amazing writer, handling such a controversial figure like Val with both nuance and care while most story just make it clear they hate him.
Hope to read chap 21 soon and bless your grandfather!<3<3<3

Your analysis is so spot on and I love how you noticed the diff of how Val and Vox took from their experiences when they met each other. I mean, Vox wasn't that afraid of Val since Vox was powerful before, but yah, deep inside, there was a fear ready to emerge if he ever lost his powers
Or more like, Vox's pov of how they met was warped later on when he lost his status and power, due to the fear that he didn't even realized he had on Val
And how does a relationship recover after certain events took place in the story? Well, I guess we shall have to wait and see. :)
The fact it wasn't an actual rape moment i think is what helps the situation. I mean, what happened still sucks, but due to the circumstances you can't fully blame Val for doing what he did. But yah, things are gonna be interesting with those two later in the story and hopefully i pull it off for you peeps : )
Writing Val has definitely been a challenge for me in this story. I do my best to write him as complex, balancing him with good and bad actions that he takes through the story
and thank you for the blessings <3
