A raw photograph of a very unique Nissan Z3000.
I captured this when experimenting with aperture and depth of field. I believe the framing of this picture is near perfect, and the lighting was exactly what I was looking for. The rust under the headlight and the multi-colored body panels attest to the vehicles character. I would love to experiment more with this wind turbine.
This is a gag photo on GM dealers. Being as I work for an import company, it isn’t uncommon to hear a joke about the quality of domestic vehicles. This picture gave me good practice with taking pictures in the absence of light, and I also got good practice with post-production and bringing out as much light as possible. If I had to retake this one, I would certainly take it during the day.
Yet another rolling shot. I attempted to darken the borders of this photo to create a sort of cartoony feel. Perhaps a different white balance as well as a change in lighting would alter the amount of texture and shadow edges that are exposed. I may continue to pursue the animated look in the future.
“On top of the grind”. A raw capture of a personal vehicle, this photograph boasts a vibrance of color and a wide range of dynamic background objects. The message of this photo is to have pride in your daily work, even if it isn’t extravagant or elaborate. There is beauty in even the dirtiest of places.
The first quality rolling shot I have ever captured. This was after just about 30 attempts. The idea is to find the right shutter speed to capture motion while still capturing an obvious background, and keeping focus on the main subject to keep everything in focus. The hardest part about this kind of shot? Keeping the camera still while you're leaning out the back seat of someone else’s car!!!
I captured this photograph when I began experimenting with shutter speed and moving objects. The “speeding” car is merely an illusion created when a moving object and a still object are in the same frame with a slower shutter speed set. The effect worked better than I expected. Much can be done with this idea of objects (vehicles) moving at different speeds within the same frame. More improvement could be done on the overall framing of the vehicles themselves.
Many people see this as the end of the road, whereas I see it as a new beginning for the journey ahead. The angle is intended to show the viewer (you) just how far the salvage yard reaches, giving the feeling of endless opportunity to those who know what to look for. This picture boasts saturated colors and friendly lighting, creating an overall joyful essence. This photo would improve with broader and fuller lighting, as well as a different lens that is capable of capturing even more detail at a further distance.
One of my first edits that doesn’t go over the top. My idea was to create something like a poster that one Volvo fan might pin up in his room or garage. Notice how the droplets of water are crystal clear, while the background looks as if it was painted in by hand. The texture in this photograph is what makes this photograph, being as it is so detailed. Something to try for next time would be a different frame and angle, eliminating the foam brush in the background as well as the major glare from the overhead light.
This photograph has a high focus on a shallow depth of field. The idea here was to give the feeling that the 240 wagon body goes on forever. The high contrast editing adds to the shadows and creates a slightly deeper effect. If I were to retake this photograph, I would aim to frame it in a way that almost deletes the background entirely. Either that, or place the car in front a more appropriate background to add emphasis and character to the 240. #volvoslocos #240 #wagon
