This is really late but it seemed like Green was more... Excited about Purple this chapter? I know he was already drunk when he walked with them to the party but he generally seems more friendly and interactive with Purple. there’s probably like.. Two. they’re not too concerned with fairness, more just entertainment. Purple’s pretty light, so they’d be in the lighter one.

whoever wins wins and whoever doesn’t doesn’t! this isn’t super organized or anything. it’s not nearly professional enough to have such things

available equipment ?

bring yourself and like probably some water they don’t provide that shit. they have first aid kids for the express purpose of having people Not Die.

What are the out-of-bounds ?

can’t tell if you mean physically or illegal moves. physically? it takes place in the basement of an office building, and the fights occur on flat ground with a taped-out arena area. you lose if you fall out of bounds, but you’re also not allowed to force your opponent out on purpose— that’d make everything end too fast. whether or not you did it intentionally is up to referee discretion.

illegal moves-wise, just don’t kill each other and stop when the fight is determined to be over

there’s no formal sex classing, though people can choose who to compete with minus tournaments. (the events are primarily frequented by one kind of person, anyway— young cis dudes who yearn for when the city was more lenient about combat, which used to be far more common and far less regulated. it’s actually still a very very common sport, purple just doesn’t want to go through the hassle of doing it the above-ground way, especially because stickfighters [as they are nicknamed] tend to become pretty well known.)

time limits are not usually there except in the case of tournaments, where they are cut to five minute intervals with breaks in between. this seems counterintuitive to the whole “we wanna watch people break each other’s noses” vibe until you remember that a rested opponent is more likely to be, well, breaking noses

how are points controlled, given, and managed ?

not really a points system? it’s not necessarily boxing. it’s just a human version of stick-fighting, which is just… beating the shit out of each other until someone taps out or can’t reasonably continue.

who and how many judges are there ?

referee and judge are the same title here. one for regular matches, three for tournaments (so as to better ensure the rules are followed.) they rotate around. sometimes long-time fighters function as such for informal practice fights which sometimes happen on off days

im so sorry to disappoint it’s not the formal version of the sport it’s just people rocking each other’s shit for fun and entertainment. while it is extremely culturally relevant (sparring is like the football [either version] of this universe) purple is competing in a bastardized backyard fight club version of it

anywhere from 20 minutes to 5 years

ok jokes aside its kinda fuzzy bc my mental health is very on and off, especially regarding this fic in particular (a certain someone sends their goons to harass me about it every now n again). its very varied. sometimes i can crank out 5k in a night, sometimes it takes me two days to get up to 1k

fic lore of the day: mango has a degree in computer science and used to consider music more of a hobby. he ended up taking on teaching music performance and theory after gold passed— he buried himself in his coding work to survive it and as a result burned himself out severely, hence the career path change. he used to be in a band in his youth; that’s how he met his wife. though he doesn’t do it often anymore he’s still pretty well versed in songwriting as well as a few instruments, most notably the piano and electric + acoustic guitar.

he still enjoys coding as a hobby now that he’s healing from gold’s death, and offers tutoring to some of victim and agent’s advanced robotics students.

(he hasn’t yet crossed paths with yellow, who is double majoring in computer science and mechanical engineering, but i feel it’d be very likely that he’d bond with her eventually.)
