Microsoft Frustrating
I'm running Hyper-V on my work laptop to test the process of automating the rollout of OpenSSH in a cluster of machines for work. I installed some Dell critical updates because of Dell Command Center. when i opened Hyper-V post reboot Hyper-V told me that my laptop should be running the Virtual Machine Management Service in order to connect its hypervisor tool to localhost. The service was not listed in services.
The interwebs/LLMs told me that i needed to enable the Virtual Machine Platform Windows feature to enable this service. I i turned on Windows Hypervisor Platform feature, nothing. I turned Virtual Machine Platform feature off then on again. nothing.
finally i turned off ALL Hyper-V features, and turned them on again. it worked again.
just to note i now check Services, and there's a Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management service that is running. I'm not the state of THAT service before the disable/enable processes.
hope this helps someone else!
