There are so many good Chinese historic dramas I simply ADORE, and I hope that there are other people who just love period dramas as well! The Untamed

OMG this is actually surprisingly really really good and I can’t believe the Chinese government let this fly because technically it’s homosexual but the tv program removed all the “love” part and made it into a bromance instead. At first I was not really into it because it’s not the traditional girl meets boy but I was soooo hooked starting from episode three? The first two episodes are kind of rewind mode where they give you the “current situation” and goes back in time to tell you how the MC got there. Also, they have a great OST

Synopsis

The pugilist world is ruled by the powerful Wen clan, which dominates over the smaller Lan, Jiang, Nie and Jin households. I totally forgot to post this drama!

It’s an adaptation from one of my favorite author! Dianxian, all her stuff is super amazing i hope they make it all into dramas.

This one is called Ashes of Love. 

Plot: In ancient times, the Flower Goddess dies after giving birth to a daughter named Jinmi. She has a premonition that her daughter will suffer a great love trial, thus before dying, she gives her daughter the Unfeeling Pill. This magical pill prevents Jinmi from feeling and expressing romantic love. The Flower Goddess ordered her subordinates to keep the girl’s birth story a secret and to imprison her within the Water Barrier for 10,000 years. Jinmi grows up as a Grape Spirit while all plant spirits are forbidden to leave the Water Barrier.

4,000 years later, the Heavenly Emperor’s second son, Xu Feng, was entrapped by someone and mistakenly entered Water Barrier. He was saved by the ignorant Jin Mi. After living together, Xu Feng gradually developed feelings for Jin Mi. Someone close to them wants to use those feelings for their own benefit.

But basically, it’s about a girl, who is incapable of love because of a “curse’ from her dead mother, ends up killing the guy she loves, and they become enemies, but then after she killed him she realized how much she loved him and the curse is broken. 

It’s a great drama with AMAZING looking cast.

The only good drama I’ve seen recently was Yan Xi Gong Lue. It is super long but it’s super face paced. No dragging on forever and ever. 

Plot: In 18th century Beijing, the smart and witty Wei Yingluo enters the court of the Qianlong Emperor, Hong Li, as a seamstress to find the truth behind her older sister’s death. Believing the imperial guard Fucha Fuheng to be her sister's killer, Yingluo purposely attracts the attention of his sister the Empress Fucha, and is successfully transferred to Changchun Palace as a maid. Over time, she learns that the Fucha siblings are honest and kind-hearted people, and also develops romantic affections for Fuheng.

Though Wei Yingluo is not of noble birth, the kind-hearted Empress Fucha personally teaches her how to read and write, and encourages her to treat everyone with kindness. Though Wei Yingluo has reached a stable position as a trusted palace maid, she hadn't forgotten that avenging her sister's death was her top priority. After a long and secret investigation, she discovers that the murderer is a high-ranking noble in the Forbidden City, and sets the stage for the culprit's death. Empress Fucha banishes her to the slave house before the Emperor could order her death.

Due to a series of events, after the sudden death of Empress Fucha, Wei Yingluo becomes the Emperor's woman, and is given the title of Consort Ling. Remembering Empress Fucha's teachings, she embodies all the qualities of a virtuous consort, and supports the Emperor until death.

Princess Agent

The story takes place during the chaotic times of Western Wei, where innocent citizens are often kidnapped and turned into slaves. Slave girl, Chu Qiao (Zanilia Zhao) is thrown into a forest along with other slaves and becomes the next hunting target for the rich lords. She is saved by the Prince of Northern Wei, Yan Xun (Shawn Dou). Afterwards, she is brought into a powerful family of Yuwen and witnesses their bloody power struggle. Seeing this, she swears to take her younger sister and flee from the situation. However, she catches the attention of Yuwen Yue (Lin Gengxin) and undergoes strict training while building a sense of companionship with Yan Xun. Unfortunately, Western Wei goes into battle and Yan Xun’s family is slaughtered.

After that incident, Yan Xun grows ambitious and cruel to avenge for the things and the people he lost. He doubts Chu Qiao and takes advantages of her loyalty and love many times, disregarding their relationship as well as the sacrifices he will have to make for power. Disappointed with the man she once loved, Chu Qiao eventually breaks off her relationship with Yan Xun and chooses to fight with Yuwen Yue, destroying Yan Xun’s plans of vengeance. She eventually convinces Yuwen to free the country from slavery, becoming a successful military strategist/female general in the people’s hearts.

I have been drama hungry for the past few weeks, and then I stumbled across this one. It’s called 龙珠传奇之无间道 I’m not sure if there is an English name… but this drama is soooooo good It’s kind of like my bratty princess which I’ve posted earlier Kanxi emperor falls in love with the previous dynasty’s princess Will they be able to overcome their vengeance ? Honestly, I don’t know. Currently on episode 23 Few more to go!

This Drama.

What can I say. This drama made me get out of my shit hole and onto tumblr and post about a Chinese drama after a LONG ass time. 

That is because, this drama is fucking awesome. 

I read the book a long time ago, and kinda forgot about it, but when they made the drama and read it again and remembered how fucking awesome it was!!!!

I don’t really like Angela baby playing the role though, because in the book, the girl isn’t supposed to be “beautiful” she was supposed to be average looking with EXTREMELY high IQ. She conquered these men with her wits, not her face. She wasn’t supposed to be ugly or anything, but certainly not as beautiful as Angelababy 

Here is a simple Wiki Plot Synopsis :  When the mansion of Prince Jiang'an is under attack and destroyed overnight, He Xia and his attendant Bai Pingting is forced to flee the Kingdom of Yan. They got separated, and Pingting took refuge in a monastery where she meets the powerful general Chu Beijie. He recognizes her as his childhood first love. However, their situation renders this relationship a difficult one as they are from opposing kingdoms.

Watch it, trust me.

I’m way more excited about this than I should be. I didn’t like the book THAT much. However, this is one of the rare times when the drama actually looks better than the book. 

It’s about a girl who’s mother was a demon and father was a human, her mother died trying to save them. She is a half demon who falls in love with a rich play boy... 

Danger lurks in the troublesome times of late Qing dynasty, and Japanese invasion.

Hi everyone~ So, it’s been awhile :) 

I recently found this super worth watching drama called Chronicle of Life 

The story takes place during the Qing dynasty, during the reign of Kangxi Emperor. Seriously, all actors are so yummy looking :3 

The plot is super complicated but basically, the male lead (the emperor) kills the girls entire family because they revolted. She escapes but looses all her memory of the massacre. She falls in love with the emperor, who killed her entire family... but when she regained her memory... things went downhill. There is a lot of side plot going on which is super interesting to watch. Love this drama to death!! definitely check it out.

This is literally the only Historical drama I’ve watched this past few months. I’ve been stuck with post college graduate depression. Like seriously why are jobs so hard to find? 

This is the famous tale of Yang Gui Fei, the famed beauty of China. Set during the Tang dynasty, she was the most beloved concubines of the Emperor. The kingdom fell to its knees (almost) because of her, and the Emperor was forced to kill her, or be killed. 

The famous poet Li Bai wrote multiple poems about her, she is till today considered the most beautiful women in all of China’s history. 

The drama is called “Lady of the Dynasty” 

not only is 吴尊 in here SO YUMMY, my favorite actress Fan bing bing is also in here! Check it out guys~

So this is the VERY famous tale of how one woman became the only female emperor in the entire 5000 years of Chinese history. 

Plot: During Tang Dynasty's 2nd reign, Wu Meiniang (Fan Bingbing) enters the palace at age 14 as a Talented Lady with innocence and aspirations to serve Emperor Taizong (Zhang Fengyi) as his consort. The Emperor Taizong soon takes notice in her and falls in love with her. With Emperor Taizong's love, many grow jealous and hatred for her. They set out to destroy her numerous times by falsely accusing her of thief, murder and treachery. She survives with her wits and intelligence, but when Emperor Taizong dies she is sent to a monastery to become a nun because of a palace rule that states any consorts who did not give birth to a child of the Emperor must become a nun. However his youngest son Li Zhi (Aarif Rahman), who later becomes the Emperor Gaozong has been in love with her since he was a child. He brings her back to the palace and makes her his consort. As Emperor Gaozong's consort she rises through the ranks of the harem and becomes his empress. With more power she becomes more ambitious and sets her sights on the throne. With the death of Emperor Gaozong, she rules in her son the Crown Prince's place, but when he starts to defy her as he grows older she has him killed and soon decides she wants to be sole ruler of China, establishing the Zhou Dynasty and ruling as the Emperor for fifteen years. All knowing what she is capable of is fearful of her.

Generally speaking, Bing Bing’s acting is on point. This role had always been her dream, but the Emperor is seriously not my type... but then again, he’s just a side character. This series is more focused on how she became the Emperor’s favorite and overthrew the old empress. She went from innocent to scheming ... but hey that’s what happens when you are competing with 3000 women for the attention of ONE MAN!!!
