when i say “i’m not sure how i feel about jean grey’s introduction to the mcu” i don’t mean it in a “omg they made her a villain when she’s a hero and she’s supposed to be good all the time 🥺” i mean it more in a “i think rogue’s backstory and trajectory would’ve made more sense for this plot” type of way

revisiting this bc i saw able to see the film, and it’s a Good Film, like you’ll enjoy yourself in the theater, but his aesthetic is limits the story visually
#NoShade but the conversations about whether or not zendaya is athena in disguise or actually athena are kinda frying me, especially when they bring up the scene of her in troy. like when they show that odysseus is talking about how he made a sacrilege out of something that should be peaceful (the horse) and it felt more like he was realizing that he was defaming something holy and saw then athena being mistreated and beheaded but it felt more symbolic rather than something that actually happened, especially since they show the head of athena’s statue falling on the ground right after
