Introducing Waldo
Grand Rapids, Michigan native, Waldo, has quickly been taking the internet--- and soon the world, by storm. Born Kamron Robinson, his previous EP, Pick Your Own Poison, has over 100k+ plays on Soundcloud and his most recent EP is sure to overtake his record. Nside/Outside, a double release, are 10 tracks that form the mind of Waldo. Nside reflects on how certain events in his life affect him, while Outside deals with the perceived thoughts of those around him. Main producer, Sango, is able to conjure up the misty, evocative atmosphere for N/O through his haunted, trap beats and audio samples from Waldo's early childhood. The perfect match, Sango's sounds meld easily with Waldo's bouncy, effortless delivery and smooth flow to tackle subjects about childhood, being a black young adult, his crew, relationships, making it and less than favourable Seinfeld references painting vivid images and uncanny nostalgia to each track. Waldo is definitely a rap project to keep watching.

Joey Badass, 1999 (mixtape)
Joey Bada$$ (Jo-Vaughn Scott) of Pro-Era is a rapper from Brooklyn, New York. '1999' is his first musical attempt featuring producers such as Chuck Strangers, MF DOOM and J Dilla and guest verses from Capital STEEZ, T'nah Apex, CJ Fly and other Pro-Era mates. The mix tape embodies a classic feel of early '90s hip hop records with everything from jazz and funk samples mixed together with crashing hi-hats and thick drum machines. Bada$$ flies through the 15 track mix tape with finesse and clever wordplay on subjects such as hood life, his past, aspirations and experiences with significant others- the stuff that most young adults go through. One of the main arguments when it comes to Bada$$ is that his '90s, boom-bap golden era sound isn't authentic. That he seems to be grasping for a time frame he hasn't really lived, then paying homage to the artists before him that ruled the era. But, through listening to this mix tape that is simply not the case. '1999' is Bada$$ introducing this classic sound to a new, younger audience and giving it the chance for revival and survival.

Our four MCs that are making waves in the rap scene with their gritty, sexy and clever lyrics bringing all eyes back to the New York area.
