Although the glitter idea will be the focus of the idea, I also need to campaign my idea. Posters will act as an advertisement but will also allow the hierarchy to be displayed and slightly explained to graphic designers. A poster is also a good way to show off my idea using different day-to-day scenes for the ‘personalities’ to be in.
Campaign and awarenes posters are quite similar to each other in that they let the hierarchy which is normally an image or vector. The hierarchy is one that is made to visually communicate such a strong and important messege that text only needs to be evident on the poster, there doesn’t need to be masses of it and nor does it need to be bold.
All of these examples of campaign and awareness posters are the epitome of what I want to create. I want to campaign a new way of thinking to graphic designers, having the product of visual personality as the hierarchy will make the target audience question what it is, but also want to read more and think about the theory.
On the legal highs poster I like how simple the typography is, there doesn’t need to be masses of text on the poster for it to turn heads. If the text was bigger is wouldn’t be campaigning something properly, it would only be taking away from such a strong message. The black type is bold enough against the off white background to stand out, but the poster ensures that this is looked at after the hierarchy. The ‘take it from red’ poster has slightly more graphic components on it, making the layout a little more complex. But, as the observer of the poster, we automatically understand the concept and message of the poster without the text. I do not think this will be the same with my campaign, it will be more lateral but it is aimed at graphic designers who depict messages in their everyday lives. The text has been set more to the side to work well with the layout of the hierarchy but still works well. The other two posters create the same type of initial understanding as the observer. When we as the consumers see a poster with a large graphic and small amounts of text, we understand what type of poster it is. My poster will not campaign my theory as literally as all of these examples will, but my idea will have the same style as campaign and awereness posters. I will ensure that the posters I create will have a large graphic on them, being the observational personality, and also will have some typography to explain the concept of the poster.
