the sheer beauty of this trilogy's covers have truly been something to behold, and I feel so lucky. the US covers are by Will Staehle/ Unusual Co and the UK covers are by Corey Brickley. SUCH BEAUTY. SO MANY EASTER EGGS!

Eyes of Kings releases August 4th 2026 in the US, and August 6th 2026 in the UK. it took me two full years to write, and I'm still in the weeds of line edits moving around sentences and nitpicking down to the syllable rhythm because these characters love to scheme and backstab and argue their way through a massive war. it is the finale to a trilogy that I started to dream about in 2020 because I was thinking about power and identity in the context of Shakespeare's Antony & Cleopatra, paired with the rise of the Roman Empire and Chinese theological debates about the divine right to rule.

working with these asshole characters has felt like pulling teeth sometimes. but I also think that's where the most sticky, weird stories emerge from. you can preorder from your favorite bookstore now, and thank you to everyone who has stuck with these books over the years <3 the end is coming so soon!

Hello! For this week's assignment at NileCorp given to me by @chloegong, I am providing you all with some information about myself, both true and false. I must clarify that this in no way reflects on the company. Everything NileCorp says is inherently true. This is just a little exception for the fun of it.

Two truths and a lie:

I have asked the Branch Head extensive questions about what would happen if the Head of Research, Rosalind Lang's limbs were removed.

I came up with one of the ship names within the Secret Shanghai Tumblr fandom.

I did not read all of the source materials (Shakespeare plays) before reading all of the past Employee Handbooks.

Hi! Snuck out of Nile Corp to ask you a Secret Shanghai question.

Would Rosalind, Orion, and Oliver have health issues later in life because of the experiments on them? It had to have taken a major toll on their bodies.

I've always justified that we can shelve the Foul Lady Fortune duology as "fantasy" only because the "magic" is in the experiments that appear and disappear in a way that supplements how history unfolded (i.e. heightening tension before war breaks out) without going in and then changing how major events would erupt if someone possessed these abilities (i.e. we can't have super soldiers running around WW2 because there's just no way it would have ended the same way if that were the case). So on a technical level once the experiments are gone, they're gone, and they have to be because the limitations of historical fantasy meant I didn't want to open up a can of worms about the possibility of someone retaining their "power" to be used in major war!

But the mental trauma is another question...

I’m delighted to announce that I have left my dumb fast food job and accepted a higher-level, higher-paying job at NileCorp. I have been with this company since I was 15, and am so happy to be advancing my career with this amazing company. My first directive in my new role in the marketing department under Alisa Montagova, along with many others on various social media platforms, is to start promoting our Branch Head, @chloegong’s, November release, Coldwire, under the marvelous direction of our COO, lord, and savior, Lord Mao Mao.

In all seriousness, I am so honored to be apart of this campaign for Coldwire. I have loved her books since I was fifteen, and Foul Heart Huntsman especially got me through a very dark time in my life. It is forever cemented as my favorite book, favorite series of all time, with my favorite characters of all time.

It also opened up a whole new world for me in terms of representation. I’m aspec, and getting to read about three well developed, iconic, deeply human, utterly joyful characters who were like me is an indescribable feeling.

Lastly, My love of these books also gave me the people on this website. It gave me Quinn and Cal and Alice and Dawn and Mars. It gave me Cordelia, who is about as dear to me as my irl best friends.
