Disneyâs Mulan- Keyframes & Storyboards
In preparation for the new, live-action Mulan from Disney, this blog has decided to go back and look at some of the initial character concepts from the masterpiece that was the original 1998 animated Mulan.
Mulan is a 1998 American animated action-musical-drama released by Walt Disney Pictures based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan. The 36th animated feature released by Disney, it was directed by Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook, and released during the Disney Renaissance.Â
In production for four years, Mulan covers the legend of a Chinese woman who disguises herself as a man to take her ill fatherâs (Fa Zhou) place in the Chinese army during the Hun invasion of the Han Dynasty. Incredibly well-received by the public and critics alike, Mulan grossed $304 million with Ming-Na Wen voicing Mulan, Eddie Murphy voicing the dragon Mushu, B. D. Wong voicing Captain Li Shang, and Miguel Ferrer as the terrifying Shan Yu.

My nth attempt to reactivate this blog
Okay so itâs been almost 10 years Iâve had this blog. Feels weird to be back on. It feels even weirder that tumblr is on mobile now. I used to scroll through on my desktop wasting so many hours that couldâve been put to studying. How is this blog not deleted? And how nice it is to see that I was once happy with my life.
23 lessons at almost 23
Why the hell am I back on tumblr? I just wanted to write some thoughts before I spontaneously go on a long ass hiatus again. Here are the lessons I gave myself and also serve as a good reminder:
Kindness is free.
When things get tough remember that this too shall pass.
Donât bottle away feelings and cover it up with enthusiasm.Â
Showing vulnerability is okay especially when it comes to love.
Be brave (about everything really).
Donât put people in uncomfortable positions for your own benefit.
Just because someone does things differently doesnât mean theyâre wrong.
Practice compassion but know when to say no.
Exercise is important. So is water.
Be reliable. Keep the promises you make.
Itâs not that you donât have time for it, itâs if you prioritise it.
Itâs okay to not have anything to say.
Quality over quantity in everything (work, friends, time).
You may not have control of the situation but you will always have control over how you respond to it.
Sometimes people will not like you no matter how much you try. Donât get caught up with it.
Itâs okay to be comfortable but when itâs negatively affecting your life itâs time to get back out there again.
Trust your gut feeling. If still in doubt, talk to someone about it.
STOP SLOUCHING.
You will be wrong. Be grateful to the person who takes the time to correct you.
Let people learn from their mistakes. Donât hold that grudge by judging their past decisions.
Be patient with your juniors. They were once like you.
Have more quiet time. Switch off.
Sometimes when a loved one is going through a tough time, believing in them is all you can do and thatâs okay.
