JOHN BISHOP: Charity triathlon
Comedian finds triathlon tough but keeps going to raise more funds for charity
Comedian John Bishop is fighting to keep afloat during his epic week fundraising for life-saving immunisation programmes in Africa…
John Bishop actually fell asleep whilst rowing the English Channel for charity yesterday… and had to be supported by his colleagues for a short time to get through the rocky crossing.
Already tired after a 185 mile cycle ride across France the previous day and with only one hour's sleep, the comedian and actor was reportedly delirious at one point…
However, with the support of his friends and well-wishers he now appears determined to finish his five day Franco-English triathlon, raising funds for child immunisation programmes in Africa.
The comedian who is amidst an epic fundraising triathlon for Sport Relief appears determined to keep going and has thanked all his supporters for the encouragement he has received including those who greeted his team at Dover.
The star has also described Davina McCall, Freddie Flintoff and Denise Lewis as legends who saved his bacon on the channel crossing and thanked fans who have backed his fundraising efforts for Sport Relief so far.
Bishop in particular singled out praise for Flintoff who he described as a "man mountain" on the channel crossing.
The deadpan comic has found that his fundraising endurance triathlon from Paris to London has been harder than anticipated and paid warm tribute to England cricket hero Freddie Flintoff and his other supporters for keeping him on track.
After his crashing his bike in France and dusting himself off to continue the performer, also known for his role in the drama series: Skins, found the channel challenge even harder… The comedian reportedly has been suffering from severe exhaustion, bruising and muscle damage during the mid part of his trek.
However, despite his battle to keep on his bike in France and awake on his boat, organisers say Bishop has recuperated well and today after a good night's sleep looks determined to keep going.
Bishop has also eaten a very hearty breakfast preparing him for the last stage of his challenge…
The comedian's 290 mile Sport Relief triathlon now sees him needing to run across England from Dover to London... The last stage of his triathlon, running in England is 'only' three marathons in three days… The humorous as well as heroic Bishop has already raised over £400,000 for charity.
