An exceptional c1880 Victorian-era bracelet depicting a dragon. In the 19th century, archaeological discoveries inspired a revival of both Etruscan designs, and goldsmithing techniques. Etruscan art included depictions of dragons, but this dragon may have been more influenced by Chinese art. The detailed gold granulation and wire work is unmistakably Etruscan though. The best Victorian jewelry is a little confusing. It shows the new found worldliness of 19th century Europeans, but also naivety.
