something to keep in mind, despite a lot of lack of enjoyment towards 2012 apocolyspe (completely fair, it was half n half at best), Ice Cream Kitty survived. She survived the end of the world. She survived a desert. btwn cat aging and expected melting, she's really made it through everything. my best bet is a mutagen factor. Chompy surviving and his growth makes sense in any environment. Alien fire turtle, y'know, and turtles already age well over cats.

There's more than one fic she dies b/c the power goes out and she melts/falls apart. (no hate towards said fics, i like em. i enjoy angst and character exploration) But she survives canonically in a desert wasteland for 20+ years I just find it funny how fans do a better job with continuity than the creators were able to handle bodily issues.
