 he  finds  himself  at  a  loss  —  the  others  resting  soundly  inside  of  their  tents,  noctis  and  ignis  remain  by  the  fire,  spilling  from  his  lips  are  memories  —  old  thoughts  he'd  been  clinging  to.  heartwarming  moments  he  got  to  spend  with  her,  lunafreya.  she  was  his  light  in  the  darkness  —  how  was  he  supposed  to  overcome  these  trials  without  her  guiding  him.  ❛  i  told  you  once..  ❜    the  words  were  straining  his  throat  —  ❛  she  once  got  me  this  dessert  —  and  i’d  ask  for  it  over  and  over  again...  we  spend  so  many  nights  staying  up  late...  —  ❜  his  speech  is  halted,  choking  back  tears,  his  eyes  burn  hot  as  they  stare  into  the  fire,  a  smile  dares  to  crack  on  his  lips,  the  thought  of  her  filled  him  with  so  much  joy  and  so  much  hurt,  he  tried  his  hardest  not  to  cry  and  not  to  laugh,  as  he  felt  it  was  inappropriate  to  do  either.

❛  ignis  —    ❜  when  he  speaks  noctis’  eyes  are  draw  to  him  immediately.  ❛  i  miss  her.  ❜  it  was  an  odd  thing  and  perhaps  it  was  the  disappointment  of  being  so  close  that  hurt  the  most.  ❛  is…  is  there  any  coming  back  from  this  —  even  if  i  do  purge  the  world  of  this  darkness…  she  won’t  come  back  —  but…  ❜  he  hangs  his  head  and  sighs,  the  thoughts  of  their  future  and  lack thereof  haunting  him  ❛  i  should  get  some  sleep  ignis,  you  too.  ❜

a breathy short-lived laugh escapes him — the man was always so closed off when it came to emotions, noctis wished he knew how gladio did it, then he too would turn his emotions off, for they were far too much for him to deal with — especially at delicate times such as these, but… there would be regrets if he weren’t feeling it all so strongly like he is now, the loss of his father, the loss of luna — and now he must lose himself in order to protect those he holds dear, and it hurt — but he would do it over and over again if it meant protecting them, as king… it is his duty to protect his people, his friends — his shield can’t always be there to protect him.

he puts his hand on gladios arm and offers an encouraging smile. ❛ stay strong my friend, you have a long journey ahead of you. ❜ fighting the tears that wish to burst free from his eyes and stream down his already flushed cheeks — ❛ gladio… thanks, for all you’ve done and… please, take care of them for me. ❜

idly fiddling with his thumbs as faris speaks, he’s nervous undoubtedly, and why shouldn’t he be? there was a certain sadness that faris carried, noctis knew because he bore that same weight of heartache  — the numbness, hurt and cold was still fresh inside him, unmoving yet causing destruction and brokenness each time the word love was spoken, and there was doubt it would ever disappear, it was like digging into still open wounds — no amount of time could heal wounds of the heart, noctis believed there would never be a night he didn’t dream of her — see her and what they could have been, if only he were strong enough to protect her… luna. his eyes squeezed shut, now open softly, shifting slowly, at a loss for words… is there anything that can be spoken to one who has lost their very own heart? he knew the feeling too well and could never truly cope and he was afraid he would be trapped forever. as tears start to fill his eyes he tries his best to smile at faris. ❛ uh — ❜ words stumble carelessly from trembling lips, why can’t he speak…? taking a deep breath he pulls himself back together: SHE DIED FOR YOU, he reminds himself, words spoken to him by his friend and shield, he couldn’t cry over her, her death would be worthless if he wallowed in his own misery and spent his time desperately grieving over the pieces of his heart, scattered and red.

he swallows hard, how can faris do this? he admired that, faris is strong, everything he wished he was, could be.  ❛ what was she like? ❜ his voice somber. ❛ i know... it's not easy to speak about it — it’ll never... ❜ choking back the tears ❛ it won’t ever be easy, will it? ❜ he scoffs at himself, pathetic.
