The scene where Trevor introduced Ian to all of his friends with different gender identities was so important. Mostly because it showed that it is okay to be confused by other people’s labels, and it’s okay to ask questions when they offer you a safe environment to do so. Lots of people are new to discovering the terminology that was used, and Ian’s confusion was authentic and it showed a boy who was confused but he never once put any of those people down. He didn’t understand but he didn’t lower himself to be the kind of asshole who was like “well that’s fucking weird so I’m just gonna misgender you for my benefit” he wanted to learn even if it was hard for him to keep up with all of the new terminology for him.
