As per usual, Chris was trying to take care of him when Peter neglected his own needs. As much as people called him selfish, vain and self-preserving, the other man constantly had to mother hen him. Especially, he found, when it came to times of injury. Even with his werewolf healing, Chris fretted. But, he returned the favor. He supposed it came with both of them having lost spouses to tragedy. Victoriaâs death being more fresh, he understood that Chris would fret over him constantly no matter what he did, especially considering how much deeper their love went than Chris and Victoriaâs ever had.Â
He opened his mouth to argue, but then let out a weary sigh, peeling off the tank top from his skin, blood having given it a sticky, clinging effect in several places. He grimaced at the open wounds, but walked over to the laundry room, grabbing the laundry basket and several towels and blankets so he could fashion a small little crib-like place for them to put the baby in until they could get to the store and get all the necessities. Which, wouldnât be long. Once his body healed theyâd jump into action. Considering Chris was a sentimental fuck, some hope that he still had Allisonâs baby things crossed his mind.Â
Walking over, he gently took the baby from Chris and tucked her into the basket, setting it on the counter. Hopping up next to it so he could keep an eye on her as Chris doctored him, he waved a hand at the man to signal him to get on with it.Â
Chris took a moment to breathe, and to quell his shaking hands. Not many things rattled him anymore; he hadnât even known his hands were shaking before Peter removed the baby from his arms. Something about the whole situation had put Chris into a panic he hadnât felt in a long time. It probably had to do with the combination of a goddamn newborn and his injured partner all rolled up into one.
Placing his version of a first-aid kit on the counter, Chris rolled up his sleeves. Although, it was really too late to save his shirt from blood stains, he just wanted them out of the way. Chris quickly took out the few things he would need. The gashes on his chest werenât too deep, but the wolfsbane was mildly concerning.Â
âPeter,â Chris spoke, as he set to work, âYou have to be careful when you go back... If you leave me here with a newborn...â Normally, Chris wouldnât even attempt to tell Peter to be careful, but the other man was so in his own head, so distracted. Chris was nearly tempted to beg Peter not to go, but he knew that wouldnât work anyway.Â
