How to Be A Healthy Fan: Food For Thought

Recently, I saw a Tumblr post by themariagigante which talked about the difference between being a supporter of a band, and then going to the extreme by harassing, and even threatening people who are close to the artists. I thought it raised some really good points that should be shared. This post is not regarding anyone I know, or anything related to street team stuff, just food for thought. 

Basically, the main point that I loved the most was how would you react if the band or artist actually saw the tweets you sent to the people who they were close with. Now, I thought this was important to think about, not just because an artist could see it, but because possible employers down the road might see it. How would you actually react to someone reading a tweet or Facebook message you sent that was threatening back to you? It would probably be embarrassing if anything. It also would make you look bad.

Basically, then point of this, think before you tweet. Just because it might sound funny, or you feel a certain emotion, you need to realize the implications of that. Within seconds the whole world could see that single tweet, and that could result in serious consequences down the road. So, take thirty or so seconds, and reconsider before you post anything. Also, think about if you would say that to them in person, or if you would say that to the person's face. Chances are, you probably would not.

Be nice to people too, if they are close to the artist, or even if that person said something negative about an artist. By calling them out will not do any good. Trust me. So, one simple question to ask, how would you react to an artist or employer reading these tweets?
