Who Even Am I? with the cast of The Odyssey
whats yalls ultimate fave character. like years have passed, interests have come and gone, yet theyre still here. mines ellie williams
I think everyone severely underestimates how much iron women need compared to men. Lets put things in context first: beef contains about 1-3mg of iron per 100g/3.5oz, depending on the cut.
men and women are somewhat similar in iron demands up until 14 and then a huge change at 19 onwards. 19 year old+ men need around 8mg of iron a day. so like. a single large, or two small steaks. of course you get iron from things other than beef, and they'll likely get enough on any normal daily diet.
women need 18mg of iron a day and TWENTY SEVEN when pregnant. that's over TWICE the male requirement for your entire life and over three times when pregnant. THATS A LOT?? look at ur own diet for a minute and i promise you, unless ur going crazy on oats and chickpeas or something, you are NOT getting enough iron. probably not even close.
and I'm mind-blown by this because somehow, culturally, meat/red meat seems to be a more stereotypically masculine thing. when eating out, women get a salad and men get a burger or a steak. you google "person eating steak" and vast majority of results are men - when there are women, they've also got a cute little salad on the side, meanwhile men tend to have plates full of meat. (seriously. go google this. it's crazy)
WOMEN: YOU NEED TO EAT TWICE AS MUCH IRON-DENSE FOODS THAN UR BROTHER, UR DAD, UR HUSBAND ETC. MORE THAN TWICE AS MUCH. NO WONDER YOU FEEL FUCKING TIRED AND WEAK ALL THE TIME.
By the way, for anyone wondering, chicken hearts contain about 9mg/100g and don't taste that bad. it just tastes like chicken. i know this sounds so gross but i pan fry around 500g, pop it in the fridge and eat them cold throughout the day, split it across 3-4 days (don't eat past 3 days refrigeration). i promise its not that bad. (they're SO cheap btw. by far cheapest meat on the market, let alone meat with high iron. i get those 500g batches for THREE DOLLARS meanwhile a 200g steak is $15+ and doesn't even cover the iron i need). chicken liver is also really good and cheap but i cant vouch for the taste.
I'm gonna get killed for asking this, so I'mma ask in the "Let's be based and get shat on" account.
How does HRT affect this?
assuming you're a male on HRT, you're still a male when you're overdosing on hormones, and despite popular delusion, you do not have a period, so it does not effect it at all. same way it won't effect female homosexuals (which do exist, by the way, "everyone is somewhat bi" is just reskinned "you just haven't met the right man yet") not wanting to fuck you. standard male requirement of 8mg per day.
If you're a female on hormone treatment, ask your doctor, but it'll probably depend on whether or not you mensurate.
i got blocked
This just in: Misogynist can't handle a self respecting woman. More news at 9.
at this point people putting a hogwarts house in their bios is a red flag
Well, only if it's Gryffindor
Agreed, nothing against Gryffindors, but... they are really full of themselves. Instant block from this Slytherin if you have Gryffindor in your bio. In fact I'll block, then send a Dark Mark up to announce the block. Then I'll unblock them right away as Harry Potter fans are lovely people and I'm ALWAYS up for more friends.
Tss, CLASSIC Slytherin behaviour!!
Are Hufflepuffs okay 🥺👉👈
What the hell is a Hufflepuff
Haha it's a Very Potter Musical reference don't worry! I thought everyone would recognise it

My dear J.K. Rowling,I am so proud of you for putting yourself at risk and for using your voice, which is heard by thousands upon thousands of people, to reveal the truth...They have drowned people in the cesspool of gender ideology and transgenderism and on top of that, these same people were already sexist, homophobic, and misogynistic, and have been exposing them to pornography since the age of 10 or 12. It has gotten to the point where even talking to just one person about this is difficult for me. I don't know how you manage to have that much courage...I wish you all the best and I pray for nothing but the best for you...I am not in your shoes, and I have already suffered so much just trying to explain this to people... I can't even imagine what it must be like for you.
Can we talk about how fucking gorgeous Dune: Part Three looks so far tho

"Accusations of rape ruin men's lives and careers."
You only have to look at how many footballers who have rape accusations against them that happily represent their countries in huge tournaments like the World Cup without anyone really giving a shit to see what bollocks that is.
Women are rarely taken seriously, rarely believed, rarely stood up for, especially when their abusers are rich and famous.
2026 FIFA World Cup players who’ve been accused of rape and/or physical abuse:
Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Thomas Partey (Ghana), Gonzalo Montiel (Argentina), Thiago Almada (Argentina), Junya Ito (Japan), Kaishu Sano (Japan), Ryan Mendes (Cabo Verde).
At least one of these men, Thomas Partey, is currently actively awaiting criminal trial on seven charges of rape and sexual assault but was still able to play at one of the largest sporting events in the world.
Adding some sources for reference (CW for rape, sexual assault, physical assault, date rape, non-consensual drug use, victim blaming, misogyny, and more):

Yes! The Drama is good, very I'd say. It's advertised as a rom com, but it is so not, more like dark comedy. Pattinson and Zendaya have really good chemistry and their preformances are so good too. The movie isn't some big think piece, but it does raise some interesting points, especially about American society(there is one scene in particular that made me nod and look sideways at my friend with whom I watched it with). Oh and I do suggest going in blind, that's how I went and I'd say it helps(unless you're already aware of the twist so to speak?). 4 months later, and I still think about the movie from time to time, a sign of a good movie I'd say.
(Frankly you're not missing much from not knowing Alex. He made some gems, mainly videos on Riverdale, but at some point he turned into a clearly bitter man; he makes videos recaping movies(and shows sometimes) with the help of simple animation, and tries to be funny, and he used to be once upon a time, anyway he reminds me why I only follow 3 men on youtube whose main thing is comedy, that is all lol)
Thanks for the rec! I've managed to evade spoilers so i'll try to watch it soon before they ambush me somehow!
I used to watch Alex Meyers all the time, but then I slowly stopped, I think the beginning of the end were his jabs at JKR in his HP videos. Sometime ago, out of curiosity I checked out his Turning Red video and got exactly what I expected, and thankfully 90% of comments were calling him out, and now after seeing that post about his Obssession video, I wonder what he had to say about The Drama, if he completely missed the point as well as went out of his way to defend Rob's character(mind you, I don't think he's the worst, but he certainly made some questionable choices). Also, very telling he's now divorced twice...
Literally don't know him but i trust you lol
Also i still have to watch The Drama! Is it good?
I saw in my recommended videos section on YouTube that Alex Meyers did a review for Obsession, but I didn’t watch it because firstly I don’t want to watch any videos about that movie made by men and secondly I just somehow had this bad feeling that he’d miss the point of the movie…
Yeah turns out I was right not to watch it 😬
And no I’m not gonna hate-watch his review to see how bad it is, just reading these descriptions of it made me want to start mauling something
Maybe at the very least I’ll open it in an incognito tag and browse the comments with the video paused because from what I’ve heard a majority of the comments are calling him out
Obsessed with the take that because women enjoy true crime podcasts that examines real life rapists, because they want to understand why a man would do something so horrid, and these podcasts also don’t leave out horrific rape and murder bc it’s the entire point of the podcast - because of women enjoying this content, they should be TOTALLY into a video where he glorifies the rapist and skips over key scenes? You aren’t actually examining Bear fairly then, are you? You’re editing his story heavily to view him in a better light, and it’s understandable that women get upset and that?? And also that you’re trying to gaslight people when everyone watched the movie and KNOW that you’re leaving stuff out?? Like maybe don’t lie about what’s happening in the movie that your viewers have all seen??
I'm not surprised by this sort of reactions from men tbh. I would not argue that "Bear is not actually that bad", that's clearly what's supposed to be taken away from the film, but i don't think the film does a good enough job in making Bear unsympathetic for his actions if that was the goal, unlike what Barker seems to be telling himself (i think he's surfing on that noise to get pussy, sorry).
Putting aside plot details, the way things are set up, Bear curses Nikki completely by accident and has little choice but to keep his situation going even as it keeps escalating into horror, until it's all so fucked he might as well kill himself (and he can't even manage that right). From the minute he made the wish he's fucked, it's not like he could have course-corrected by being a better person. I came out of the film thinking it was a great horror comedy whose whole point was to take this ordinary loser and twist his pathetic dreams of love into the most nightmarish scenario possible for him (which on its own would be enough to make a lot of men whine about it). I have a lot more trouble taking it seriously as some grand criticism of rape culture, i think it falls apart quickly when you try to analyse it that way because the wishing willow system is too inconsistent.
If you want a film that does a much better job at showing that a man is the author of his own misery (and the cause of innocents's horrific deaths), Backrooms is much, much better imo. Backrooms starts with Clark replaying with his therapist an argument with his ex-girlfriend, which ended in him being kicked out of his house. He paints himself sympathetically and the scene is framed so that you may believe him - he works hard, his girlfriend didn't and was unsupportive, she still kept their house, etc. But there are hints already that he is not telling the whole truth, and the absence of his girlfriend's point of view is conspicuous. In the end it's revealed, just from the way his memories manifest in the backrooms, that he was not being wholly honest: he was abusive to his girlfriend, embittered by his personal failures, and unwilling to change. And this unwillingness to change causes the monstrous manifestation of his worst flaws to literally eat and kill him.
Just my opinion ofc
at this point people putting a hogwarts house in their bios is a red flag
