chapter 1 of the chrisginny AU i've been working on, posted for @chrisginnyweek day 6: angst (belated! sorry!)

Summary:

The Kingdom is weakened by its peoples' conflicting desires. The clash between tradition and progression begins to inspire rebellions. In pursuit of financial aid and anticipation of hardships to come, Ginny Danburry travels with the Anderson nobles to Ridgeway, home of the Noel family, who have gold aplenty to vie for. But a political alliance is not the only connection on Ginny's mind, as Ridgeway was her birthplace and childhood home; Chris Noel, her ex-best friend, still lives there. Unlike Ginny, a commoner-turned-knight whose life outright defies most expectations for young women of the Kingdom, Chris has not left behind her family's conservative ideas, and is to be married before long to Neil Perry, a lord of Welton.

The wedge between Chris and Ginny has grown too large, it seems, to amend. However, Ginny is nothing if not determined, not only to restore her relationship with Chris, but to also represent a greater future for the Kingdom.

(Essentially: Ginny and Chris are super gay; so are Neil and Todd. Ginny leans a lot on Todd and his older brother Jeffrey. Chris wants to make it work with Neil, but she knows deep down she can't. Other characters appear occasionally... oh, and there's a plot, I suppose.)

i was able to get 12 responses, which was just fine! i first picked out "dating in secret" and "roommates to lovers", as both of these prompts had nine votes, the most out of any. then, it was "drunk declarations", with seven votes, and "road trip, "performance", and "practice kissing", with six votes each. this left me with one prompt still to pick, and as a number of them tied with five votes, i went ahead and picked "angst" out of those ones.
