Most horror films show your teenage years as this powerful time where all those possibilities enable you to fight against a threat from outside. I saw the TV glow does the exact opposite. It shows the emptiness, the endless existence of adolescents. Knowing that something is wrong, the need to change while being absolutely terrified of change. Growing up queer, autistic, depressed, trans and/or with strict parents, realising that you do not belong but a part of you tries to conform so fucking bad. This movie was able to show the horror of surviving instead of living.
ohh my god but what if there is still time. what if there is still time. hey. there is still time? there is still time. have you heard. there is still time. hi. there is still time. did you know. there is still time.
Don’t turn off the tv <3
I just watched I saw the TV glow the other day, cried a lot, and wanted to draw, so, very quick doodle is here.
I saw someone talk about the last line of ‘Gnaw’ by alex g implying freedom and just teenagers having fun and forgetting about their problems.
But to me, i see it as a reassuring, fake affirmation in the short run. Compared to the lyrics from the last verse like ‘I won’t tell your mother’ and ‘She won’t ever discover, the things you kept under the covers’ it emphasises a secret that’s being kept. Whether it’s self-harm, a relationship, or something shameful. ‘Please don’t cry’ also imply that the narrative is in a emotionally harmful situation, whatever they’re dealing with. The ‘There is nothing wrong’ feels like a temporary relief to calm the thought of everything going wrong for the narrative, and to maintain calmness with the people around the narrative whom they’re keeping this secret from.

HOUSE MD HEADCANONS
(Mainly about Chase tho, and in the first few seasons cause I love the og group)
- Chase and House both love working with kids, their easier to talk to and they don’t lie as much.
- Foreman HATES working with kids, they’re loud, they’re messy, they’re hyper, they’re annoying.
- Chase hates the jokes made about his dad or his upbringing but doesn’t want to seem overdramatic so doesn’t say anything.
- Foreman and Chase frequently have religious debates (Chase chose religion/Foreman was raised religious) both of them have a love/hate relationship with it.

how can you not love this guy. carrying and checking the time on a pocket watch
i think that's what i saw the tv glow did honestly.
that moment when you're watching it as a trans person, and every cell in your body is begging her to not stop, to not run away, please please please. you need to see it more than you've needed anything. and then she does. she sees everything inside herself in a bathroom all alone where we've all been, and she closes it all up, her emaciated and sickly body barely holding her up, and she walks back into an arcade room apologizing for her outburst to a building full of people who refuse to see or hear her.
and then you realize, while your chest feels like it might just cave in under the pressure, that this film refused to afford you the relief of seeing someone else do what you must, to give you that false and fleeting pressure eased. no. if you want this film to have a good ending, you have to make it yourself. you have to do what she could not, because otherwise, well. you just saw your future.
This isn't how life is supposed to feel
