Garden City Kansas.
Deerfield, Kearny County, Kansas USA. The home town of an American friend I knew from Berlin. Also a cousin of mine married a guy from Garden City, not far away, who I visited at the same time. A reason for this area being famous, or notorious, was that an horrendous multiple murder occurred at Holcombe, which is in between Deerfield and Garden City. This was the basis of a book and two films made about the crime.

Venice Beach L.A. 1980s. Westminster Avenue, as it runs onto the Beachfront.
The bridge over the Rio Grande from Ciudad Juarez to El Paso 1980s
San Francisco Polk Street 1988. The Royal Theater, built in 1916. This Art Deco frontage is now all that remains, the cinema itself was demolished for a housing project in 2003. The film showing on the marquee gives the date of the picture.

The Nelson Tower on 7th Avenue. Named after Julius Nelson the property developer, the architect was H. Craig Severance, and is from 1931. This tower was built right up against smaller 4 and 5 storey buildings, most noticeably a branch of Citibank, and an Irish pub called John Sullivan's Bar & Grill. They sit uncomfortably dwarfed by their gigantic neighbor. Picture taken c1989.
