“It’s easy to lose hope in that situation, but you also gotta remember you don’t need a man in your life to prove anything. I’m sure you’re gonna be a great mom and whether or not you decide to invite someone in to be a part of that isn’t the most important thing right now. Your little one is.”

Chrissy felt tears stream from her eyes as they cleaned the little girl off and placed her in her arms “she’s so beautiful and tiny and perfect”. She choked out looking over at cooper.

Cooper smiled wiping the tears that were falling down his cheeks.  “ She is, do you have any names yet?”

She smirked at him playfully “very funny”. She responded. Than a small smile appeared on her lips “thanks, Uh no it’s okay uh yeah he’s not uhm not involved”. She replied with a sad smile

“I’m sorry to hear that,” he offered, shaking his head. “That’s rough. It’s always rough. My best friend’s sister went through the same thing. She’s doing great now, but it takes time. Has someone in the picture that stepped up to be what she needed. Just gotta keep your chin up. You’re gonna do great.”

It felt like forever as she continued to push and breath. He squeezed coopers hand tight throughout the whole thing, until finally she heard crying and she looked up to see the nurse holding a baby in her hands, she smiled and let out a sigh of relief

Cooper was her support her whole time, he rubbed her bad and ran ice along her neck to cool her off a bit. As soon as he saw the baby girl he had a tear in his eyes as he looked at her, he wasn’t expecting to feel like this but he couldn’t control it.

“Yeah that’s true”. She responded still a bit unsure about this before answer him “my names christine”. She told him “and you are?”

“ARIZONA,” they told her as they slid a finger across one of the lines of her palm. “What do you do, Christine? Some kinda service, right? Waitress or barista?”

“That’s a really nice name I like it”. She told them. Her eyes widened in shock as he said that “h...how did you know that?”

“Well that’s great! I’m so happy for you!” She exclaimed. “Oh you know, just had a baby so getting used to motherhood”. She replied with a chuckle

“Your happiness means the world to me,” he offered sarcastically, pairing it with a tight-lipped smile. “Oh, shit – congrats. Wow. Is it acceptable to ask if the dad is – ? ”

Credits rolled down the screen as the movie ended, a wry chuckle falling from Jackie’s lips while she sat kicked back on the sofa, feet draping over the other as she brought a chilled Coke can to her lips, the carbonated burn making it’s way down her throat, face scrunching in response. “What fuckin’ morons.” She commented, waving her beverage in the direction of her television. They’d just finished The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, for what was likely the hundredth time in her life, and as per usual, she had a lot to say about it. “Why in the hell would she go back in that house? Like, there were a million red flags, and she still thought she could save her friends? I’m sorry, but if that were me, I’d want you to get as far away from there as possible. Dude was a goner, anyways.”

She chuckled softly “that’s kind of what happens in movies. We know the truth but they want them to do everything wrong”

She looked over at him weakly, sweating pouring off her. She nodded “okay”. She said as she closed her eyes and pushed with all her might.

He smiled and stays by her side, not saying a word not yet, he’d speak if she needed him to but right now he was just her support.

Rubbing her back he smiled  “ Come on you can do this, do this for she will be here before you know it!”

She looked over at him weakly, sweating pouring off her. She nodded “okay”. She said as she closed her eyes and pushed with all her might.

“Uh right, sorry”. She said biting her lip gently as she sat down “Thanks”. She said “so how have things been?”

“Slow, to say the least,” he shrugged. That was a lie. He had cases on cases these days, but it was better to feign a full house than to show a weak hand. Especially with his higher-ups breathing down his neck. “Living the dream. What about you ? ”

Cooper wanted to pull his hand away but he knew she didn’t mean to hurt him and that she needed his support.

“Yeah I mean, I suppose it can’t hurt”. She said just as a doctor came in to examine her and told her it was tome to push. She grabbed coopers hand tight as the doctor held up her knees and she pushed as hard as she could panting when she stopped to take a break, sweating all over.

“ I think it would do you some good!” He replied smiling before taking her hand and allowing her to squeeze his hand as hard as she needed to
