“I can help with that, don’t you worry about that.” Will assured him with a grin, already concocting the perfect plan in his brain. He nodded, “Well, I’m just happy to be involved in any way- I’m easy.” He promised, honoured that he would think of him at all. “Baby steps; definitely a good place to start.” Humming to himself, he absentmindedly drummed his fingertips against the desk. “Maybe pick a season first, then you can narrow it down more from there?” He suggested, cocking a brow.

“So you wouldn’t want to be my best man ? Nah, I get it. Big responsibility. Can’t always have what we want ? ” He teased, offering a shrug. The more people he could get on board with the idea the earlier he intended on having his wedding. He was excited. “Fall,” he nodded. “Definitely want an Autumn wedding.”

“It’s practically September.” Derek points out, brushing some hair out of his fiance’s face. “October then. Though I refuse to have a Halloween wedding, so pick another date.” He says half seriously, half teasingly, growing more excited at the thought now that them getting married was becoming more of a reality. “Mm, we can figure out the logistics of who is walking where later. “

“I’m sure we could do it,” he noted decidedly. Mitch had always been extremely goal-oriented. Once he had something in his head it was practically impossible to get it out unless it was done. He could plan their wedding in a day, but he wanted to do this together. "Well shit, guess there goes eighty-percent of my plans,” he sighed dramatically, pulling him closer. “October -- twentieth. Gives us about a month and a few days to get everything ready. ”I can hire a wedding planner to cover the basics and we’ll spend the afternoon looking at venues. Cool ? ”

She nodded as she listened to what he said “I know and your totally right. It’s just so hard and scary all on my own ya know? But of course she’s going to come first.”

“Hey, you got friends who are gonna be there for you. Hell, I’ll be there for you. Trust me, I know what it’s like to feel alone.” For the most part. He did everything alone. Never considered himself friends with anyone, but it was the thought that counted. He adored who he had at his side, though. “Good.”

“He’s loaded, so am I -- money isn’t an issue,” he affirmed. The thought of getting married was enough to send him all the way back to their first meeting. It sent butterflies swirling through his stomach and if it were possible, he’d say he could fly. Derek brought out the best in him. Comparing their wedding day to a wisdom tooth removal was a good thing. He was excited for the high. “Do you wanna be my best man ? Serious inquiry.”

“October as in, next month?” Derek asks, looking back at his fiance. “You think we can plan a wedding in a month? Money’s no object, obviously. We deserve the best.” He hums, stealing a kiss from his fiance’s lips. “You wanna be a Ryu that bad, hm?”

“Two months, give or take,” he affirmed, wrapping his arms around the other man’s neck. “I think with the right help and a can-do attitude, we could do it.” A smile spread across his lips at the thought of finally taking Derek’s last name, a worthy success if he’d ever seen one. “Oh, so, I’m walking down the aisle ? ” He prodded his side with a single digit. “I’ve been waiting to be your husband since the day I met you, dude.”

“gross. good thing i’m here to take you away from work for a bit then.” beckett says, giving his friend a smile. “so how’s life besides work? things with the fiance are still good, yeah?” he asks, hoping that was the case. “you guys planning your wedding yet? i could give you guys some tips.” 

“Good thing,” he echoed, mirroring his smile. “Amazing. I haven’t been this excited about something since getting my wisdom teeth out,” he confessed, chuckling. “In the midst. We’re still deciding on a date and all that. Tips are very much welcome.”

Shaking his head quickly, he chuckled. “No. No thank you.” He raised his hands, peering over to him. “I prefer you with your clothes on.” He explained, a warm smile washing over his features as he mentioned him being in th wedding party. “Dude!! Of course!” He exclaimed happily. “I’m honoured that you’d even ask, man. You’re gonna have the most epic Bachelor party of all time, if I have anything to say about it.”

“Good, because I’m in desperate need of a good party,” he huffed, closing the file on his desk. “I’m still compiling a list of everyone I want there and my best man. I don’t even know who to pick yet. It’s between you and someone else but Derek and I haven’t even talked about a date yet. Baby steps.”

Taking Mitch’s hand, Derek smiles, giving his fingers a gentle squeeze. Humming at the mention of a wedding date, he shakes his head, looking back at his fiance. “I don’t think so. Unless you’ve come up with a date you like and haven’t mentioned it yet.” 

“I just wanna make sure we’re on the same page,” he remarked, lacing his fingers with the others’. “How would you feel about doin’ it this year ? We have the money. I can take the time off work,” he offered, tilting his head. “October. I kinda like the idea of a Fall wedding.”

Noel smiled widely as he fist-bumped his friend. “What, so having diverse friends brings you back to college? That’s a first. I’d never heard that one before.”

“Diversity makes it seem like I’m not living in a rerun of ‘Trial & Error’,” he confessed, taking another large bite of the food provided for him. “College was another world, man. Still feel like I’m that little frat boy who was doin’ kegstands every weekend.”

Will huffed slightly. AS good of friends as they were, they were polar opposites in a lot of ways. Mitch was cooler and well, cruder, than the other boy, but maybe that’s why their friendship worked so well. “I’m going to try and block that mental image out of my mind.” He expressed before nodding. “Hell yeah I do!”

“Wish it was you ? ” He teased once more, getting the gist before promptly dropping it. “You are, by the way. You’re gonna be one of my groomsmen, right ? ‘Cause I’ll be super bummed if you’re not. I’ll cancel my own wedding.”

“It’s….my own fault”. She replied with a sad sigh “but thanks.” She nodded “I’m glad things worked out well for them”. She told him “I just…I feel so alone and lost”. She admitted

“It’s easy to lose hope in that situation, but you also gotta remember you don’t need a man in your life to prove anything. I’m sure you’re gonna be a great mom and whether or not you decide to invite someone in to be a part of that isn’t the most important thing right now. Your little one is.”

“Technically, you got your own hopes up,” she points out, giving a quick shrug of her shoulders. Heavenly wouldn’t have been able to sneak into the place even if she had wanted to – pregnant and horrible with stealth. Two of the worst combinations for any type of thief  .. or should she say snoop? Either way, it just wasn’t in her. “That’s a sweet offer, but no thank you. I feel like I bothered you enough as it is for one day.” 

“I really shouldn’t be betting all my chips on anything remotely interesting happening in Crownsville anymore, huh ? ” With a soft chuckle, he gestured towards the door. “Then feel free to come and use the office bathroom anytime you please.”

Chewing on her lip as she listened, stomach sinking into a pit as he continued on, so easily denying her the defense she’d so dearly held on to. Hardly able to manage anything more than a squeak at the mention of the death penalty, she was sure for a minute that she was going to pass out altogether. Glazing eyes slid back to him as he seemed to focus more on her once more, lids fluttering a little as the room swam around her, completely overwhelmed. “I think-… I need to sit down.” Despite already sitting, she sort of started to waver in place as stared to faint right there in her chair. 

“It’s important to remember none of us are exempt from the crimes we’ve committed, and each case -- as monotonous to severe some may be -- deserves punishment,” he further explained, watching with delight as she squirmed. “We are all equal in the eyes of the law as we are equal in the eyes of God. Would you care for some water, Ms. Rose ? ”
