Nathan Abroad
My first day in Singapore is officially complete. It was quite an extraordinary day in the sense that it was the first time I had come to terms with the fact that I will be away from Australia for a whole year. Overcoming the accompanying feeling of nostalgia then, which I assume is completely warranted given the journey ahead, I was able to embrace the fact that I am embarking on the opportunity of a lifetime!
I arrived at Changi Airport where I was greeted by a fellow JCUS student and was transported to my accommodation at Ace Suites. It’s important to note here that space is a commodity in Singapore, so don’t expect to have a lot of it. I certainly hadn’t, but when you’re on exchange and constantly meeting new people, it doesn’t really matter anyway.
The rest of the day was spent exploring the local Geylang area where I am staying – a place spoilt for choice in food that is both delicious and less than five dollars a meal! For now, I am excited to begin exploring everything that this magnificent city has to offer.
