Leaky humans

I think it catches Simon off guard being called “the stranger” but in a good way. Grace doesn’t know his history so he can’t project anything on him, just that he’s a lost stranger in space. And I think that would bring him some relief.

Post the events of the Iron Lung movie (when he gets picked up by the Hail Mary), I imagine Simon having dysmorphia in the way that he sees himself in this monstrous form a lot of people imagine him turning into after his encounter with the eel and the light. Though because he’s been so traumatized his injuries are just amplified to him. The missing eye becomes the red dragon eye, the scar on his face becomes the extended teeth. His missing arm and scars looking like open wounds and radiation boils.

I do like the more sci-fi route where he is changed from a molecular standpoint to be more than human after everything, becoming his own form of the eel. But there’s also part of me that likes the psychological aspects of the movie, and maybe the more out there things that happened is actually Simon’s mind playing tricks on him due to the isolation and radiation/alcohol poisoning. He’s probably also getting heat stroke in there and being boiled slowly by the heat of the blood ocean. When the brain is getting hit with all these things it will make you see things.

Adrian and Grace are still getting used to each other, I like the idea of Rocky and Grace already having an established dynamic, one that Adrian is perfectly okay with of course but she’s still warming up to Grace themself. And unexpectedly they start to have interest in getting closer.

Deep in space, our lone hero’s of their respective planets, Ryland Grace and Rocky, make their trek home. On their way, they encounter something strange, a being, a human, floating in the vacuum of space. The two managed to get the body on their ship and find he’s alive, by some miracle. The thick red liquid covering his body must’ve congealed in a way to protect him long enough for the stranger to be found. After getting the man cleaned up and bandaged, Mary, the ships computer, keeps an eye on him until he wakes. If he’ll wake.
