Running and Composition I learn so much from running. It has proven to be a Parallel with nearly all other aspects of my life - no surprise that having a plan and sticking to it leads to results lol Running has helped me with my work as a Product Manager, the time I spend reading and learning, my diet, and even the time that I spend with my family. I have goals in seven areas of my life that I have written out on my whiteboard in my office where they are almost constantly in view. One of those is to resume composing daily on Nov. 1, 2019. It has been before Dart since I have been able to do this consistently and I am very grateful to be able to return to this great pleasure. Like in a Running Plan I have laid out “workout types”. But instead of ‘Easy Run’, ‘Tempo Run’, ‘Long Run’, ‘Speed Work’, ‘Hill Run’, or ‘Recovery Day’, my Composition Plan is made up of days like ‘Pedagogy’, ‘Listening/Study Scores’, ‘Compose - short’, ‘Compose - Long’, and ‘Rest Day’. Instead of a Race it is of course leading up to a Work - the cadence of which is 4-6 weeks instead of 4-6 months for running. I have also found that what has helped me to hit my goals with Running is the accountability (albeit mostly personal) of posting in Strava and/or Twitter. Therefore I will attempt to do something similar with Composition. Of course there is not a Strava for Composition, so I’ve debated on what would be the right tool for this. I think the simplest and least friction way to go about it will be to use DayOne Templates exporting as cards into Twitter.
