Compendium aimed to shape a highly social space for collective participation. The Arena assembled actors and spectators, performers and observers, players and passers-by inside a 'mini-stadia' - big enough to create the feeling of enclosure, small enough to be social. The atmosphere was surprisingly intimate, direct and friendly – it’s the taking part that counts.

The pavilion was installed at two contrasting summer events in Copenhagen: a music and arts festival, and an international food symposium.

At Trailerpark Festival 2016, the arena housed a boules piste. Here, the design promoted the staging of the event - a round of petanque - by amplifying the game's basic rituals; the throwing of the balls, raking of the piste, keeping the score and beginning a new game.

The structure was then later reused at MAD 5: Tomorrow's Kitchen Symposium, Refshalöen. At the centre of the symposium, it became the setting for informal discussion and talks about the future of food, given by some of the most distinguished names in the industry.
