Live-Edge Art - Concept Model Completed. Live-Edge wood tops and desks are sure popular. Well here is my interesting twist on Live-Edge Wood… I thought it could make some form of cool wall mirrors!!!  Its been a mirror month here in my design studio.  The attached images are my first attempt at such a thing. In Process Challenge - Impossible Cuts. Show in photos are an attempt to cut mirror in ways it does not want to cut. There are stress cracks in this big piece. I am convinced the sheet glass and mirror manufacturers are rushing the annealing process. So much glass now breaks off the mark or score. I will stay the course and finish this wild concept piece. Live-Edge wood is all the rage… here is my take on it. I am attempting to mirror the entire honed front surface. The Art of Glass - Custom Furniture - Functional Works of Art - Glass is so incredibly adaptive. It comes in thousands, 10’s of thousands of colors and styles. When the intent is to design something specific, I pick my glass and start to embellish it into what ever I can imagine. These are two super cool custom tables, one is a coffee table, the other a card table top. These tables are both carved and painted glass. The design is deep carved in the bottom surface and painted with highly reflective metallic auto lacquer. Mirror Design Theory - Fine Art - I am continuing with my intense study of concept designing with mirror. I think I’m onto something Big!!! I have always thought about oversize mosaic art, this is kind of along those lines. The figure is all cut pieces of 1/4” bronze glass that is carved and sculpted to form. They are then UV bonded to bronze mirror. From there I frosted the entire background and added deep cut carved lines, these I painted black with the intention that they are sketch lines. I initially intended this piece to look like old Picasso style art, but it turned out a little more modern. The hair and the lines were rushed in order to finish, it is what makes it look modern now. I do not mind the modern look, I am so digging the technique itself. The technique has a world of opportunity which I will be exploring quite a bit in the future. The Art of Mirror - Actually a study of the art of mirrors… just a few thoughts here!!! There is so much more in queue for the future. There are 2 separate details to bring attention to here in these photos, I put them together here to see. The first is the border piece, it is not a bevel, it is thin mirror strips cut, raised and mitered to mimic a bevel. The 3-D look achieved is stimulating for a creative artist, I see tons of options in all widths, shapes and configurations. The second is the center field mirror. This mirror has a design in both the front and back. The graphic let’s say is broad black brush stroke paint, this is the part done on the back. I blasted the mirror away and painted it. The front is lightly sandblasted with similar strokes. I have more thoughts for designs with mirror than I can count. In time, you will see them. If you are in the business of Design and Architecture, I am sure you have visions of your own, let’s bring them to market. If you are a client who might like this work, and you are lacking the vision, rest assured the designing is covered, I got it!!! I attached some new concept sketches to accompany the photos. Modern Art… A too often, overused title for garbage. Modern Art, when real, is art that only looks simple. So, if Art is in the eye of the beholder, let it be that of a professional. Here is a new series of Modern Art, Glass Art, Dimensional Art. It’s a study of color and form, light and refraction. It is cut pieces of chiseled glass bonded to the panel with strong contrasting metallic color. The Reveal… A masterpiece of a window designed and created for a new client. This is my latest creation, a Tiffany Styled custom stained and leaded glass window. Tiffany Styled in this case simply refers to a new creation with similar passion and techniques. There was no interest or intent to replicate a Tiffany, he does not need anymore replication. I am an exemplary artist of my own on my own journey in time. This wild piece is just another step along the way. Pretty awesome I can proudly say. This creation, though mine in design needed plenty of expertise to complete. 4 specific people all with their own super-high caliber skills came together with me to make this window what you see. Bob Schmidt and Karen Yan of @schmidtstainedglass, put the expert touch to the extremely challenging and detailed build. Crys Solderholm another extremely talented stained glass artist, she is known for creating the most exquisite detailing in glass by means of sand carving and traditional Reusche & Co. Kiln fired painting. Lastly, Brian Rosenthal another highly skilled stained glass craftsman. He is a precision detailed professional with leaded glass assembly. Photo Realistic Etching - Hear the Music… I did! The yacht KingBaby is an outstanding custom yacht whose interior design was themed “Rock & Roll”. Iconic rock images graced this custom yacht… several were ones I was involved with. What I did with my team was create super custom hand carved glass panels that were used as illuminated backlight panels. Our carved glass, which was impeccably detailed was edge-lit with high power LED lights. When this is done, the etching lights up and the background clear glass does not. This created a most unique dramatic illumination to the images we were involved in. Design Development - Creative Thinking… when I was asked to come up with an idea for this space, I was at first stumped. Never for long though. My type of glass does not often work into spaces like this… so I turned to the thought of hot-glass. I know hot glass can be bold color and show extremely well in this space. While engaging the artists I know who blow glass, I felt the need to offer up some choice of my own to compete with it. This is my option which turned out to perfectly suit both client and my creative vision. This is layered sheet glass and mirror carved out to fit these elegant bird shapes. I show several layouts to how they can be seen, which do you like? These birds will appear to be floating in this space in flight. They will be set on clear glass dowel rod which virtually disappears. They will have a base that the client wants to look like water, sounds good to me. Attention to Details… This is a cool detail designed into this luxury waterfront custom home in South Beach. It is great to be selected and designed into elite custom builds like this. A big thank you to @kwdesign_team Krent’s vision as an artist is spectacular, he and his team create the most unique feature points of interest in homes, businesses and public space. More thanks to the team of @glhomes actually GL Signature Homes, their custom home division. They along with @choefflevyfischman for this spectacular architectural custom build. What we installed here is some of my signature ultra-clear mirror backed chiseled glass blocks into a custom water feature fountain at the entrance of this home. Water will soon cascade down the face of this chiseled glass. Water spans the entire distance of this entryway, this home in a multi-level spillover wading pool. To the right of center and through the tunnel of home access lies another stand up fountain wall, this one has horizontal chiseled glass blocks where water will bounce off and around these fins creating more sound and movement to enjoy. 3-D Mirror Frame - One thing for sure is I will never run out of ideas... they evolve from passion to expand my portfolio and my expertise. Now, this is not such a big deal, cut glass, blast it, paint it and find a way to stick it all together. This is a first for me working this glass in a 3-D form like this. What is a big deal is figuring out how to actually bond it in a way it is stable, long lasting and aesthetically pleasing from every angle. This is anyone’s challenge if they want this mirror or something like it. This first run piece is my tester, funny it looks like a peacock in color and some form... those who know me close know I am working on a peacock window. A masterpiece Tiffany styled stained glass window, it will be one for the record book. I did figure out my plan to create and finish this unique 3-D mirror, I also figured out the large amount of time it takes to cut, blast, paint and assemble these funky cool mirrors. Be ready to pay well for us to repeat them. Organics... a trendy term or a key component of great design! That is the theme here at one of Boca’s new residential hotspot’s Alina. This gem of a complex, the entire design of it is the exquisite work of the elite @garciastrombergstudios Grace, Elegance and Beauty is around ever turn... this turn was our magical skills at play. This is me and my multiple personalities standing next to it. This grand wall of glass and mirror is 18 feet tall by 40 feet wide, on it is this wild organic carved ombré design. Ombré refers to the fade out to clear glass. The design is carved into the glass with depth and dimension at the center, it fades to clear as it goes up and down. Teamwork makes the dream work!!! Thank you as well to @achristianglass for trusting us to deliver exceptional detail work with perfect registration panel to panel. It was an honor to be a part of this job. Modern Art Glass - Box Sculpture. 50" x 100" x 16" Illuminated Glass Art Lighting. This creative work of art was developed through a series of test experiments in our kiln, heat formed glass, slumped glass. The design is Light Sculpture - "In Flight" 2020 by Chris Reisert. It was a design for a local luxury build, a custom closet island light. Illuminated ceiling art... it is a primary focus for us and the options are endless. The "Box"?
