It's Christmas and like every other year I made a gingerbread house, actually two this year! Here is the first one, a cabin for my dad's company. Loved how this turned out!

Wishing everyone on here a happy Halloween! 🎃
Got my first few whittle commisions recently and here is one of them. Wirt and Greg from Over the garden wall. They turned out so well it was almost hard to give them away but I know my friend will appreciate and take good care of them.
Whittled in pine wood, coloured with acrylic washes as to keep the wood grain visible, covered with a food safe varnish in case my friend's kids starts chewing on them.
Sketches from the local beach this summer.
My home place in Norway had a two week heat wave and locals and tourists alike gathered by the fjord to cool down and I tried to draw as many of them as I could!
Final animation exercise, live action animation. An exercise where we learned to merge animation with live action. My favourite exercise, both then and now.
Second to last animation exercise, another lip sync. This one is based off when my students did lip syncs off old vines, just for the fun of it.
Next animation exercise, lip sync.
This lip sync is in Norwegian, my native language. Reason why it is in Norwegian is because when I taught the exercise I had my students exchange audio of their native languages with each other to force them to listen to the sounds and not rely on standard mouth shapes so they learn the lip sync properly.
The lip sync itself is still the least important part of this exercise, body and facial acting is still the most important.
Next animation exercise, facial acting. The second part of the acting exercises, here the focus is the face but still how the expressions with together with body language so the body language is still done first without the face.
Next animation exercise, body acting. The first exercise to really embrace the character animation. Always animated without a face to ensure gestures and body posture takes the center stage.
Next animation exercise, animal run cycles.
Next animation exercise, animal walks. Primarily four-legged walks. Did a combination of standard animals and animating the pets of friends
Part 2 of the mood change walk exercise, just the walk cycles.
Next animation exercise, mood change walk, which was to learn walk cycles, reaction times and acting.
Been on holiday, the rest of the animation exercises are coming up cause I got some new inspiration!
This is part 3 of the weight and balance exercise, pull.
Second part of the three part animation exercise about weight, this is push.
Next animation exercise, first one of a three parter, lift, done to learn about weight and impact when moved upwards.
See all the exercises on instagram @chrnerland if you can't want for them to be released here on tumblr. There are also behind the scenes reels there.
Third animation exercise of my personal animation challenge. This is the dive exercise. To learn anticiparion and overshoot.
