As with the very last seconds of 2015, my naive hopes and selfish desires escaped my grasp when midnight struck. I lost something very important to me, but gained something I was desperately seeking.
May 2016 be that year that I:
Design better.
Grow stronger.
Live healthier.
Love deeper.
Can’t sleep and missing Japan, so did some digital painting. :3
Falling in Love
10 days in Japan was way too short. Although I barely knew any Japanese, the country just felt right for me. The people, the culture (for the most part), the obsession with kawaii things, and the anime culture made me feel more at home than the U.S. ever did. Maybe I’ll move there one day hehehe :3
I think I've been scared of falling in love--both with people and with things. Being in Japan made me feel that it's okay to fall in love with my craft. I've always wanted to be a manga artist. It frustrates me that I'm not that good yet, but I think I'm ready to be amazing at it now. I've been losing sleep to silly daydreams lately. I'm going back to the days where sleepless nights means getting closer to obtaining my real dreams. It was a much happier place for me and I miss it dearly.
As for falling in love with people, I'm still figuring that out. How do I know I'm not falling for the wrong ones? I'll probably make all the wrong choices here, but oh well, at least I'll still have other stuff like hobbies and passion to cling on to :')
The Boston skyline.
It’s funny how I’ve been here all my life and can still barely recognize this city. I love Boston. It’s just the right amount of everything. But tomorrow I’ll be temporarily saying goodbye and preparing myself to fall in love with Japan. At 25, I feel like I’ve started the travel game a bit too late. This will be my first time out of North America (Sorry mom, that trip to China when I was five does not count!)
As always, I’m scared and excited at the same time. I usually leave a farewell letter before I leave...in case I don’t make it back. Some people say it’s morbid, but really, I’ll just regret it deeply if I never got to say goodbye. I’m just prepared for the unexpected!
Anyways, I’ll just leave my short and sweet goodbye here: It’s been great knowing everyone! Don’t feel sad for me if by some unfortunate event I don’t make it back. This is what I’ve always wanted to do, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Chasing dreams and fighting fears woohoo~

Halloween
I was never a fan of Halloween. It's partly because I never saw the appeal of dressing up, but mostly because I’m afraid to dress up.
It's not clever enough. It's not original enough. It's not perfect enough.
As silly as it sounds, it took the biggest courage to wear a simple pair of cat ears to work. I was self-conscious and nervous because the costume was so last minute and unoriginal. Are people going to cringe at another lame cat costume?
Turns out, people are really nice and generally don’t give a fuck! It was positively received and I even got a few compliments. I was actually startled when a CVS employee told me she liked my costume. I had a great day today because of such a simple thing. It seems I’ve been overthinking it for way too long.
It’s okay to be imperfect. It’s okay to be vulnerable. And it’s super okay to be me, whoever I choose to be.
