Here's some more tips from a cusp-Gen X'er who's trans-elderly, most of these are elaborating on what's already been said and me just rambling
-Khakis and Levis are a staple. If you get jeans, make sure to get them thrifted, well worn in already, preferably with those lighter spots where the dye has washed out around the knees especially. Some of us still wear sneakers daily but it's less Jordans and more New Balance.
-Collect magazines! Time, National Geographic, Vogue, Sports Illustrated, whatever. Everyone in their 50's has a whole cabinet of magazines we couldn't bear to get rid of a decade ago because "what if they're worth something one day?"
-Find hobbies your parents gave up when they had kids. Did they have a front garden? Loved grilling? A lot of us in this age range are pretty simple when it comes to what we spend our free time on, especially if you're trans-chrono/era for a pre-internet time. IDK, drink from the hose? /j
-Forget about beauty tutorials and skincare tips. Wash your face with water, and at most, hand soap. Make expressions without caring for how it's "aging" your face. Hell, purposefully make exaggerated ones to create more wrinkles. Look in the mirror and just mush your face around with your hands, it makes more of a difference than you think.
-If you live alone or with someone who's cool with it, and your city still does it, get paper news delivered. This can be a great way to help start a morning routine, I highly recommend pairing it with a recliner and coffee. And by the time you're in your 40's, you've stopped giving a shit about "having it black" and whatever is associated with that, you have it with as much sugar and creamer as you damn well please.
-Take a longer time, but not impolitely so, in social interactions, especially transactions or at stores. If you've ever worked retail, you know that our generation is into small talk. Remark on the weather, the latest sports game, you don't even have to care about it, it's just friendly noises.
-Listen to music that's, counterintuitively, older than the age range you're going for. Most of us don't listen primarily to music from our 30's or late 20's, we still listen to what was on the radio when we were in high school and early college. Personally, I'm a big fan of Billy Idol.
-Change your lights from LEDs! As you get older, LEDs become harsher on the eyes, and a lot of us still opt for the familiar incandescent bulb.
-Be wary of technology. We remember a time when space heaters could burn your house down, where calls could be listened to from anyone in your home, and cameras were five pounds. At the same time, nobody was accessible to communicate with unless you were literally within walking distance- beepers couldn't send a message, just let you know someone on a landline wanted to call you, and many of us still prefer calling to texting.
-Embrace the carpet. Carpets and rugs everywhere. Not only is it stylish, it's easier on the knees.
