I actually upgraded my level on this today
It all started this morning, with a video on a study of counting atheism percentage of the USA
Being atheist is highly stigmatized in the US, so many people who don't fully believe in God/gods/higher powers/etc don't end up identifying as socially atheist
This leads the study to find that there are two main categories, or denominations if you will, of atheism: those that socially identify and consider themselves as atheist, and those that just don't really follow a religion
This is the setup for the basis of a later idea (one i hadn't yet formed), that identities come from personal choice, not from fitting a set of definitions and check-boxes. Ie, you aren't a lesbian because you're a girl who likes girls, you're a lesbian because you've accepted that as your social class/group
A previous tumbler post made me realize that while i am absolutely bisexual and a bit gender-queer (not trans, nor have i really found a name for it, i just think femininity is peak), I do not socially identify as queer (yet, probably); also: the fact that i was born a male and still am male, yet identify as gender-queer, and reject the personal identity of trans or other named gender identities <for myself, not as a concept obviously>》 Ergo: the previous statement.
This takes he/him lesbians from "ya what? Thats not how those work really, you don't exactly fit the definition of those words, don't check all the necessary checkboxes, so they don't describe you. <but i won'tsay anything cuz it's really not my problem, go ahead and do whatever you want, why should i care> (Treating identity labels scientifically, as something other people use to describe you, like how we say paper is white because it's closest named color is white)
Adhd came through hard in the structuring of this one lol
