Your situation is incredibly fucked up
Is there anything that helps you guys cheer up?
Telling Ven his peculiarity was a mistake, Brain had realized that almost immediately and frankly:
It took a whole lot of childish innocence to hear that someone had the ability to take life from one thing and give it to another and solely focus on the fact that that meant he could animate your god forsaken stuffed animal. Sure ignore all the animal organs involved or the fact that it exhausted the living hell out of him as long as your plushy did a little dance….
Despite the annoyingness of it all, Brain had….never refused the request. Not once.
As unbelievable as it might seem Brain too was a human being that possessed sympathy and felt bad when a child looked at him with those sad dissapointed eyes. Especially when he knew what said child previously went through.
So he indulged the request. It wasn't as much of a bother as he made it seem like anyways….Just cut it up, heart inside, sew it shut and voila. The little plush could walk and despite the process of animation being rather…grotesque, Vens eyes widened with such joy and curiosity that it made him….smile a bit. Of course Ventus little friend couldn't stay alive forever and eventually collapsed again but it brought him joy while it lasted.
And this very same process repeated. Day after day to a point where it became some kind of daily ritual. It was strange when Ven did not stand infront of his door with his stuffed animal in hand by the afternoon. Then something was wrong.
Just like now. Now everything was wrong and he couldn't stand it. A week ago everything was normal and a week ago everything had gone to shit. Now Ava was gone. Now half the people they had lived with for years were dead and gone and every bit of previous normality died with them. Though Brain had judged that a little bit too soon
It was late a night when someone knocked at his door. He didn't react at first, Mostly because he didn't want to talk to anyone right now, but when this certain someone knocked a second time he decided that he had to stand up and open it.
And to his ,what should not be, surprise Ven stood infront of his door with his stuffed animal in hand.
"Cant sleep?" Brain had asked
He invited the younger one inside. You knew it was bad when Ventus out of all people was unable to sleep. That sleepyhead had fallen asleep in places he could never previously imagine anyone sleeping at and now look at what they've come to…
Brain sat down on his bed while Ven let himself fall on his back next to him. The younger one stared at the ceiling in silence for a long time before he focused his eyes back on Brain. The older one knew what he wanted to ask and he knew what the answer would be
"….Can you…make Chirithy live?" The blonde asked with a voice so hesitant that you could tell he felt bad for even thinking about asking that
And for the first time in all these years Brain was forced to tell him no. He wanted to but he couldn't. Everything he would have needed for that was at the old house which essentially meant that it was gone. At least for now….
He reluctantly said and Ventus solemnly accepted it but Brain wasn't finished with his answer yet
"I can try something else though" the moment he said those words Ventus eyes lit up ever so slightly. Brain held out his hands and Ventus placed his stuffed animal inside them while silently observing every single movement. Carefully, Brain grabbed one of chirithies arms.
And suddenly he made Chirithy jump up.
"Im chirithy your best friend!"
Ventus couldn't help but chuckle. Brain wasn't the best at silly voices and by all means had he done this infront of anyone but Ventus he might have died of embarrassment, but he succeeded. He made Ven laugh.
And if he was completely honest.
It made him feel a little better too.
