Added a yellow sash to Juliette et Justine Travelogue De Die Sterntaler / Star Money so it looks more like the regular dress. I copied a Schwartz Schmetterling cutsew by sewing a very wide embroidered lace ruffle collar to a regular long sleeved t-shirt. All the hair is my own.

On the Issues: Lolita’s Guide to Election 2016

The soaring price of lolita wardrobe has moved into the headlines and the 2016 presidential race. Lolita brands are under fire for jacking up prices for new prints. Angelic Pretty fangirls on average spend over $5000 on out-of-pocket cost during the first half of 2015 on more than two dozen new releases and matching accessories. Recent polls have found that the majority of lolitas think replicas are to blame and that the government should force replica companies to shut down and further subsidize lolita dresses.

Bernie Sanders has said he’ll do both (and also import Taobao brands as cheaper alternatives). Hillary Clinton, his opponent for the Democratic nomination, said she would require major brands to put a $250 monthly cap on out-of-pocket clothing spending for new lolitas with annual main piece purchase of fewer than 5 items and increase competition for indie designers.

Republican Marco Rubio has said Oo Jia and Dream of Lolita have engaged in “pure profiteering,” and Carly Fiorina said it was “disgusting” that Milanoo wanted to charge $200 for poly satin lacemonster. A few other Republicans have called for reduced regulation during debates.

Calls to restructure Lacemarket and EGL Comm Sales, the worldwide secondhand markets for relatively affordable lolita clothing, will also turn up in the primaries and beyond, though with Republican candidates largely divided on the topic. Jeb Bush have embraced plans to give out a lump sum to lolitas without wealthy boyfriends or living below the poverty line to buy Bodyline (although he denied accusations that Mr. Yan has made illegal contributions to his campaign). Republican front runner Donald Trump has largely been silent on the subject except briefly mentioning he will leave the websites alone. Chris Christie wants to raise the income eligibility and charge higher premiums to e-famous lolitas with more than 500 followers on Tumblr.

I finished my very first HSF challenge! It's a pair of straight soled slippers from around 1850's. You can read about the process here.

My coord from SF OTTea party back in September. I originally went for a Age of Navigation theme but it became Elizabethan theme instead. Those heel-less faux chopine shoes are as uncomfortable as they looked.

I've always wanted a tortoise shell comb to compliment my mid-1800 hairstyles. I wondered if I could take a fake tortoise claw clip and shape it into a comb shape. I baked it in a toaster oven at 350 degrees for a few minutes and immediately flattened it with the bottom of a baking pan, then I returned it to the oven for a bit more and shaped the teeth slightly with my hands. It worked! Note that the size shrunk considerably so if you were to try it yourself you need a big claw clip with just a few teeth and you need to watch the oven closely,

I made my first ribbon embroidery on my flight back home. As you can see I started from the left side so the right side looks less messy. I think I will turn it into a reticule.

I’m pissed and I’m going to start messaging every sexualized ageplay/sissy blog that reblogs my outfits.  This sort of thing is really damaging to the lolita community.  We’re either denigrated and disparaged for dressing “too girly”, or we’re straight up fetishized for it, which is really, really not cool.  As I’ve said before, I do not care what these people do within their own circles, but please stop bringing us into it.

To make a pair of Victorian sock garters/suspenders: Get two cheap suspenders/braces, shorten all three pieces of elastic. Clip the top part to your shirt and the bottom to the edge of your socks. It will keep your shirt tucked in and your socks stay up. It's especially useful for OTK socks.

I bought a peter pan collared school uniform shirt, cut out the collar part, added trims, and wear it over other shirts or dresses like a bib.

Made a pair of pocky earrings from fimo clay.

I took a pair of old yoga pants and cut off about 7 inches of each leg, sewed elastic at the cuffs, and use those as a replacement puff sleeves for a t-shirt. The collar is made from a linen napkin and bias tape.
