During the RDC, written for the current point of canon.

He finds her sitting in one of the common rooms a little after dawn. Somewhere in the test kitchens below, Yukihira and Nakiri are still arguing over heads and tails and everything in between. It was Ishiki who’d told him to get some rest in lieu of Megishima’s early-morning arrival.

All hands on deck, and we’re down to just two.

Megumi has her back to him, shoulders slumped. Her hair, usually worn in her two iconic braids, is loose. He can’t remember ever seeing her this way, the gentle rays of the early morning sun kissing her soft features and pale skin, slightly-curled tresses brushing her shoulders and the nape of her neck.

In that moment, Takumi understands one thing: Yukihira Soma is a lucky man.

He lets out a chuckle, caught between mild amusement and affection. As fond as he is of Takumi, the Italian really does have a flair for dramatic entrances. “You aren’t going to drop a glove and make me pick it up, are you?”

Takumi rolls his eyes, swiping the blond from his forehead. The deep blue eyes flicker upwards to the control room overhead, but only for the briefest of moments.  “No, but I mean it, Yukihira. Today’s the day I beat you.”

Megumi loved living in Florence, she really did, but sometimes she could do without the November rain. As she stood under the awning of the Tōtsuki Imperial Hotel, her current headquarters as deputy director of the tourism department, she thoroughly lamented not purchasing an umbrella for each day of the week.

Although she knew that the two she owned were lying side by side on top of a heater in her apartment, she still reached inside her purse, hoping one would materialize. When it didn’t, she sighed. It would be a ten block walk to her apartment. She could always wait at the bus stop, but in her humble opinion, it was better to be moving and soaked than still and soaked. 

Steeling herself against the cold, Megumi stepped out from under the awning…and inexplicably remained completely dry. 

When she looked up, there was Takumi Aldini, dressed to the nines as always and holding a sturdy Totes umbrella over her head. 

“Takumi-kun, what are you doing-”

“I had a feeling,” he said, grinning at her, and in that moment his smile was all the sun she needed. “Allow me to walk you home, Tadokoro-san.”

“Of course,” she replied, gently taking the arm he extended to her. “I-I mean, if it’s not too much trouble.” 

“I meant what I said before,” he told her as they began to walk. “While you’re here in Tuscany, you can ask me for anything. Don’t hesitate.”

Megumi felt a blush dusting her cheeks. “Thank you,” she said, “for being there.” It had been difficult for her, newly single and in a new city, but Takumi always tried to help her, with directions, with the language. It felt nice to have someone again. 

The rain picked up as they neared her apartment, making it necessary for them to walk closer together.

When they reached her place, Takumi wished her a good evening and was about to take his leave when she stopped him. 

“Why don’t you come upstairs?” she asked. “Wait out the storm.” 

Why was it that after cohabitating with a man for over five years on four continents, asking this was so nerve-wracking? 

“I’d like that,” he said. 

They climbed the stairs to her fourth-floor walk up and swapped out their shoes for house slippers. Megumi brewed a pot of tea while Takumi chose a movie for them to watch on Netflix. 

In all honesty, neither of them paid much attention to the movie. They were too busy reading one another, his subtext, her body language. Something had been building between them for a long time now. 

“I’m glad you’re in Italy, Tadakoro-san,” he said. 

“We’ve been friends for a long time, Takumi-kun,” she replied and leaned in, suddenly enamored with his eyes, blue as the Mediterranean sea. “You can use my first name.” 

“I’m glad you’re in Italy,” he repeated, his lips brushing against hers. “Megumi.” 

She couldn’t remember a time when she had loved her name so much.

Why, yes! It’s been a while since I drown myself in TakuMegu feels. So thank  YOU!

1. Acts like they’re dying when they have a cold. Takumi is one drama king xD but Megumi would gladly spoil and take care of him (after a series of getting flustered with running back and forth).2. Gets mad at the TV and throws the remote. I honestly can’t see both doing this. I mean Takumi could hate what he sees on TV, but not at the point that he needs to throw the remote across the room. 3. Gets the worst road rage. Takumi would unconsciously utter some Italian curse words, and Megumi would remind him to keep himself cool-headed while stroking his back.4. Spends too much time in the bathroom on their phone. Neither of them are gadget-oriented. (Though Takumi does have a killer Instagram).5. Packs the whole closet for an overnight trip. UHM, OBVIOUSLY MEGUMI?? The girl would pack a winter coat to Barbados. Just in case it gets too cold, she says.6. Hates the in-laws. It’s not that Megumi hates Takumi’s parents (I mean cmon, can she ever hate anybody?), but since she always ends up with food coma every time she visits Florence, she tends to feel a tad overwhelmed (this girl does NOT know how to reject someone).7. Hits the snooze button…11 times. Both are morning people!8. Makes the other late for work. Takumi, though he can be prettttty damn smooth that Megumi just can’t resist ;)9. Uses the television as a babysitter. Maybe Takumi would… only when Megumi’s away. And it’s only for a quick run for freshly baked bread. Megumi would FLIP TF OUT if she finds out.10. Takes in the stray dog. Megumi could be this extra. Often, Takumi will only feed stray dogs and maybe sit with them while they eat.11. Suggests a 3am trip to McDonald’s. They try not to for the sake of their health.12. Leaves their shoes out for the other to trip over. Megumi would trip over Takumi’s shoes even though he does put it in the right place. *shakes head*13. Can’t make up their mind when it comes to dinner. Megumi would torn every time Takumi gives her a choice of his grandma’s lasagna or his gnocchi with sage and brown butter sauce.14. Needs to be reminded of all their appointments. Megumi tends to be more forgetful, and that’s why Takumi would write a note of her appointment on the bedside. Along with some fresh flowers just to brighten her day more <315. Bribes the other into doing chores, getting out of the house…and taking a shower. NOOONE.16. Picks the movies. Both take turns. He will sit with her watching Nicholas Sparks’ movies, and she will gladly sit with him through 2-hour-long documentary movie about European history.17. Takes the safety steps when building a pillow fort. Megumi could definitely be the one who is more safety-oriented. Takumi being a good boy that he is would follow her safety steps.18. Kisses the other’s injuries better. AWWW BOTH WOULD SO DO THIS!19. Is addicted to angry birds, game of war, candy crush, temple run, or flappy bird. Takumi has a strange addiction towards flappy bird to beat Soma’s high score.20. Kills the spiders. Takumi’s TERRIFIED of spiders, but he has to man up for the sake of poor, shaking Megumi.21. Hogs the blankets. Oh, they would push the blanket to each other as far as I know.22. Takes pranks too far. Soma23. Makes the dirty jokes. Takumi would sometimes do this, and Megumi would laugh awkwardly… mainly because she doesn’t get it.24. Keeps a piggy bank. Megumi has one in the kitchen for the change she gets from grocery shopping.25. Has no problem having ice cream for breakfast. Takumi loves some nutella gelato for breakfast. He sometimes scoop it with a piece of biscotti too. :9 Megumi doesn’t really recommend it, but she’ll let him let loose once in a while.26. Gets a tattoo when they’re drunk. Neither… but I think these two have matching tattoos on their ankle. It’s their anniversary date written in Roman numerals.27. Trips over their own feet. Megumi can be extremely clumsy xD28. Makes the other go for a walk. Megumi loves to ask Takumi if they can walk to the restaurant on their date night.29. Whines until they get what they want. Neither are too pushy.30. Tries to act tough but really isn’t. I can see both of them doing this, and I sensed that they are pretty sensitive of each other’s feeling, so Megumi would try to cheer him up with a massage, whilst Takumi will do so by making her favorite matcha tiramissu and cuddle with her as she eats it.

Takumi Aldini falling for Megumi Tadokoro Headcannon’s

Since you didn’t say if you wanted to do a headcannon or scenario, I went with headcannons.

I hope you enjoy this. This is my first time doing character x character.

Poor baby has no idea what to do when it comes to getting a crush on someone, let alone falling for them.

This is completely different from the times he flirted with the customers at his family’s trattoria. This is real feelings.

Isami would be the best and worst person to talk to about his growing feelings for the girl.

He would tease Takumi about his rivalry with Souma even more given that he was falling for one of the red heads best friends.

Totally the type of brother who would make vague references to Takumi’s feelings around Megumi.

This leads to Takumi turning redder than Souma’s hair and into a spluttering mess while anyone around them looks on confused.

Honestly, he had tried to deny his feelings for Megumi the second he realised what the butterflies in his stomach were whenever he even thought of the sweet girl.

At first he thought that the feelings were just a manifestation of seeing the blunette as a rival as her cooking skills.

Lots of clumsy attempts at complimenting her, 

Which can accidentally come of as a backhanded compliment.

When he realises that these feelings aren’t going to be buried under honing his skills or challenging Souma, Hayama or Kuroshiba to Shokugekis, he has a freak out then starts thinking of ways to try and spend more time with Megumi.

Freak outs happen even as he tries

Lots of leaving situations when he does something embarrassing in an attempt to impress Megumi.

These plans range from ‘accidentally’ running into her, spending time at the Polar Star dormitory under the guise of joining the parties the set-up,

The jealousy of how close Souma and Megumi are is the biggest obstacle that Takumi faces when dealing with his feelings.

Especially since no one has any idea of their relationship whether it is platonic or romantic.

Leading to Takumi sulking whenever something that could be misconstrued as romantic happening between his crush and his rival.

He also starts hanging around more just to spend time with her, offering to help in the gardens and anything that she is doing.

Offers to teach her about Italian cuisine. 

Let’s her try and teach him about her cooking style. 

When he does confess, it will have been planned out meticulously, making full use of his Italian charm. He is going full romantic evening, candlelight homecooked dinner, chocolates, flowers. The whole nine yards.

.

That doesn’t go as planned.

He gets so nervous in the asking her to dinner part of the plan he first blurts out “Mi piaci per favore uscire con me, amore mio. (I like you, please go out with me my love).”

This earns a very confused look from Megumi and turning Takumi into a spluttering mess as he hastily backtracks and tries to translate back into Japanese but it comes out a string of non-sensical words.

When he finally does ask her out, Megumi goes red and stutters out a very shy yes.The two just stare at each other awkwardly once she says yes, not entirely sure what to do next.

Very shy and cute couple.

Souma loves the fact that two are a couple, but didn’t see it coming.

Everyone else had money on when Takumi would ask Megumi out.

Isami won.

Random Scene Analysis

When Megumi lost against Momo, I found it super interesting how Isshiki and Takumi were emphasized in the panels without having any dialogue.

And it got me thinking…

The first person that speaks to Megumi after the loss is Soma. He tells her “Good job! Don’t worry about it! It’s okay!” which I don’t think Megumi needs or wants to hear.

Think about it: if you put everything you had into a game/project/assignment and you got a bad grade or lost, the last thing you would probably want to hear are those fluff words. They mean nothing. They don’t comfort you. They don’t change the end result.

They don’t heal the pain you feel from failure.

Although Soma meant well by saying this stuff, I’m not sure it was the best response. However Isshiki and Takumi remain silent. Why?

Because the two of them might actually know Megumi better than anyone else.

Isshiki’s known Megumi since she came to live in the dorm and has watched Megumi grow and struggle as a chef. He’s never underestimated her and has warned others against doing the same. They work together in the garden often, so Megumi has probably opened up to him about a lot of things: stressing out over grades, being homesick…

And Takumi has not only worked alongside Megumi, but has also been in her position: losing his mezzaluna after his Autumn Election shokugeki. He knows how much it hurts when you put your all into something yet in the end it’s not enough.

Isshiki and Takumi know exactly how devastated Megumi is, even though she is trying not to showing it. And instead of comforting her with words that hold no weight, they silently watch over her and let her have her moment. Honestly, if they had gone over to comfort her, it might have seemed like they were pitying her.

Their silence says more than anything.

Takumi waits until after Soma wins to comfort Megumi in his own way and even then he chose his words carefully by reminding her that she played a role in their victory.

This was just a random analysis I wanted to write down before I forgot about it, haha!

Personally, I think Takumi’s and Isshiki’s relationships with Megumi are severely underrated and not explored nearly enough!

There are people who like her personality / approve her cooking / are rooting for her

Whether she will win or lose against Momo Akanegakubo

She will always be the special girl in my heart and no one can replace her

And of course somewhere in here I got to include Takumi Aldini, who watches her match silently with a faint smile on his face
