Telling people to read J Sakai’s ‘Settlers: Mythology of a White Proletariat’ is not the corrective to the default white chauvinism internal to the Left and the US working class. There are plenty of other texts out there that analyze white supremacy and it’s relation to the working class that doesn’t default into a mechanistic third worldism, which collapses the category of race/oppressed nation into the category of class. It isn’t a coincidence that this third worldism largely replicates the petty bourgeois liberal identity politics discourse we see dominant in the universities, its just dressed up in marxist garb while still engaging in bourgeois moralism.
