Taylor Hill for H&M Spring 2017.

“It wouldn’t sit well with me if I left you in the hands of an utter stranger, especially in the state that you are,” Castle replied simply, as he slipped his coat over her shoulders. He cringed when she pointed out that he was tired but instead of denying it he simply waved it away. “No, Charlotte, I don’t have to do this but I want to. Contrary to popular belief I am quite capable of being a gentlemen and making sure you get home safe is as gentlemany as it is going to get.” He said with a half shrug. His lips, which usually held a coy grin now bore a hint of a genuine smile, a rarity which only a select few ever saw. “Come on love, lets get you home.” He said softly once he saw the distraught look on her face. It reminded him of a time when the world seemed to be bearing down on him, a time where he thought he would give up and float away. Instead of pointing this out, however, Castle simply offered his arm for her to link her own through and remained silent.
Yet again, Charlotte was surprised by the kindness Castle was exhibiting. She realized quickly that annoying doesn’t always equate mean and, after a second of hesitation, she gave him a big, grateful smile. “Thank you,” she said quietly, suddenly much more humble than before. She carefully threaded her arm through his and gripped his forearm, almost positive she’d trip at least three times during their journey home. Her heels were killing her at this point and she tried to ignore that, walking as quickly as she could. “I live in Notting Hill,” she added, just quiet enough for him to hear, and she glanced up at his face. After a moment of walking in silence, she spoke up again. “Have you worked here long?”
mcmus:
Maddox watched the brunette readjust the books in her arms and then nodded at her words, following as they set off towards the underground entrance. The small talk wasn’t bad. “I’m a free-lance journalist.” Of course, it was more complicated than that – free-lance because he couldn’t get steady employment because… Well, because he was a sob story and drank to try and feel a bit better about himself. “You’re a… student?”
“Really? That must be wonderful, working on your own schedule. You’re good at writing then?” Charlotte grinned a little at Maddox’s assumption and she patted her pile of books gently. “Yeah. I work as a personal care assistant, too, at one of the nursing homes.” She tried to remember what her friends always told her. Don’t give away too much personal information.
pcrcys:
percy tried to CONTROL his giddiness at the other’s words. all he wanted to do was to be HEARD; he wanted to make people FEEL and he had done it. ❝thank you, charlotte… it means much more than you think it does.❞
“all always be honest when i like something,” she said simply, reaching for her cup and taking a sip. “i’m still very sorry about snooping, though. bad habit of mine, i think.” she traced her thumbs around the rim and examined him again. definitely a young man carrying a lot with him every day whether other people noticed or not. “do you write for a living?”

Rolling his eyes, Castle leaned his head on his palm and disguised his scowl. “I’m sorry this ‘decent’ bar isn’t up to your standards, your highness,” He half scoffed half mumbled. “Oh come on, who am I supposed to pester now?” He said, feigning a pout. “Don’t worry, however, I will do my best to take the best notes I possibly can so you won’t be utterly lost upon your return.” His eyes shifted to the man at the end of the bar who was now stumbling towards the exit with guttural groans spilling for his lips as he hobbled out. “Finally.” Castle mumbled under his breath. He picked up his coat and turned back to Charlotte. “Well princess looks like it’s time to get you home. Hope you aren’t wearing heels because we’re walking.” He said as he shrugged on his coat. He glanced at her as he stepped out from behind the bar and paused before slipping out of his coat. “On second thought perhaps you should wear my coat, that dress is quite lovely on you but it doesn’t look like it would be capable of shielding you from the cold.”
Charlotte wasn’t convinced at all that Castle’s notetaking would be helpful to her, but she’d been wrong before. For instance, he was being surprisingly helpful that evening. She grimaced when she heard the word ‘walking’, looking down at navy stilettos she was wearing. Her mind, sluggish and confused, took a couple seconds to realize that he planned on walking her home. “I was going to call a taxi,” she said slowly, standing up, her eyebrows furrowed. Charlotte let him slip the coat over her shoulders and she looked up at him, examining his face. “You don’t have to do this, you know. I can... I can figure out where I am eventually. Can’t be that hard. You look tired.” She was tired. And confused and lost and sore and cold and about to cry but she was an independent adult and independent adults dealt with things like this all the time.
pcrcys:
❝charlotte.❞ he repeated, hoping for it SINK into his brain. at her notion of him being a poet he let out a soft chuckle, suddenly loosing the s l i v e r of confidence he had. ❝uh, a poet ?? i mean…. i like to THINK so, anyways.❞ he shook his head, chewing on his lip.
charlotte grinned widely, almost feeling his self-confidence slipping away. “if you write poetry, and you enjoy writing it, then you’re a poet,” she said simply, resting her chin on her fist. “own it. i read one page and you’ve already made me feel. it takes a lot of talent to do that to a reader.”
mcmus:
Maddox nodded; he wasn’t offended by the worried look she gave him or the way she handed him a water bottle with a faint smile. Being half-drunk at seven in the morning after a long night… Well, that probably wasn’t the safest nor sanest thing to be doing. It wasn’t out of the ordinary for him though. He had a problem, probably, but it wasn’t too bad. “Thank you,” he replied, accepted the bottle. He unscrewed the cap and took a sip. “If that’s what you’d like,” he said. “It’s nice to meet you Charlotte; I’m Maddox.”
“No problem,” Charlotte reassured him, yet again readjusting the big pile of books in her arms. “Well, Maddox, let’s get you to the Underground.” She gave him a grin and then nodded in the direction of the entrance down the street, walking in that direction. “So what do you do? For a living, I mean?” Ever the conversationalist, she glanced in his direction with a curious look on her face.
athcncs:
“ yup, that would be me. is there anything in particular that you were looking at? ”
“oh, perfect! i was just wondering, do you do anything in regards to self-defense? i had a run in recently and if someone else hadn’t stepped in...” charlotte paused and frowned, eyebrows furrowed. “anyways. i need to get stronger.”
fkpoppy:
she remained silent, listening intently. it’d be unwise on her part to explain her dreams as well, and how vivid they’d been. she remembered everything in her’s as charlotte did. no matter how foolish, she continued to respond with her recent experiences. “ – that’s strange… i’ve been having a similar feeling in regard to my dreams. definitely more realistic and memory-like. ” she spoke in her airy voice. training her eyes to the other girl’s features. “ there’s probably a more ‘sciency’ explanation for dreams like these. ”
charlotte’s face perked up a little more when poppy said that, feeling a little like she wasn’t having a mental breakdown. “how strange,” she said curiously, tilting her head to the side a bit. “i don’t know. if there was a more sciencey explanation, wouldn’t we have heard about it by now?” she pursed her lips and accepted her bag of stones, putting down the exact amount owed in cash. “i’m glad i’m not the only one, though.”
pcrcys:
her comment SOFTENED the treachery, percy’s eyes lighting up brighter than NEW YORK CITY at night. ❝really ??❞ he asked, taking a seat across from the girl, almost forgetting she had read the words he didn’t dare speak out loud. he wondered if a n y o n e knew what he REALLY thought; the things that raced through his mind at twenty miles over the speed limit. percy wondered what she had read but put that aside, as manners took the spotlight, ❝’m percy, by the way. percy stanton.❞
charlotte almost let out a relieved sigh when she saw there was pleasure on the stranger’s face instead of fury. “it was extremely moving,” she confirmed, holding out her small hand for him to shake. “it’s nice to meet you, percystanton. i’m charlotte abrams.” she picked up her cup again and took a sip once he’d released her hand, tilting her head to the side just a fraction as she examined him. “you’re a poet then, percy?”
pcrcys:
percy had been searching HIGH & LOW for his notebook; the thought of the brown moleskine being LOST a detrimental heartbreak. he retraced his steps all day and wound up at one of his favorite coffee shops, spying what seemed to be his notebook in the hands of a young woman. she had it open, thumbing through the pages, and percy FROZE in place, the reins of terror holding him flush to the floor. his eyes darted around the scene, finally mustering up the courage to take a step in the direction of the girl and then another. he scratched at his head, clearing his throat to get her attention: ❝i―i think that’s mine… the NOTEBOOK, i mean.❞
charlotte’s eyes shot up when a young man stopped in front of her table, guilt written all over her face before he even said anything. she’d basically been reading this guy’s diary. she sucked in a deep breath and shut it quickly, handing it over to him, her cheeks turning a deep pink color. “i’m so, so sorry. i was trying to find a name, phone number, address, something to return it and... i still shouldn’t have snooped.” she glanced down at her feet to collect herself for a second, clearing her throat. “for... for what it’s worth. the one poem idid read... it was beautiful. you’re a very talented writer.”
one of the many marvelous things about london that charlotte had come to appreciate over time was the amount of coffee and tea shops littered across the city. some were more commercial and widespread, some were hole in the walls, and some were genuinely interesting. one of charlotte’s favorite places was a little shop that overlooked a detailed statue of some queen or another. she’d just settled down at a table near a window, a hot cup of spiced apple juice in her hands, when she caught sight of a little beat up notebook lying on the floor. she leaned down and picked it up, flipping to the front page to see if there was a name or anything, and then she browsed the pages mindlessly. poetry. she settled on one page to read, and soon the light-hearted happiness she’d been feeling was replaced by heartbreak and astonishment. her soul ached for the poet, the visualization of the situation being described clear and painful in her mind.

“ wait, did you need something? ”
“oh, yeah. if you have a moment. i read on the website you’re a personal trainer?”
chrisbarros:
Chris was more than happy to give Charlotte a lift to the subway - with the sun actually shining for once and the pretty girl on his handlebars, it was enough to distract him from his previous concerns for a minute or two. “Beautiful,” he stated, laughing as he handed the bouquet right back to her. “Any time, gorgeous. You know I’m always a phone call away - I hope things go well with your patient.”
Charlotte smoothed out the papery fabric of her pants and gave him one last little grin. “I hope so, too. And I expect you over for lunch someday soon.” He reached out to gently pinch his cheek and then, with a final wave, she descended underground to catch a train back to Westminster.
fkpoppy:
“ you’re very welcome. ” replying with her own smile. anytime she felt like she was actually helping, made it worthwhile. “ oh, don’t get me wrong. i misplace things all the time because of it. and me too, let me know if it works out. ” her smile stilled, “ was the dream very concerning ?? not that it’s any of my business… ”
charlotte pursed her lips as she sorted through her purse. “it... yeah. it felt more like a memory than anything else. a very, very bad memory,” she explained. “it’s still so clear to me. it’s odd. i was a man in the dream, i couldn’t walk. and what’s odder is i remember everything about that man. his name, his family, his story. again, like a memory. dreams fade. this one has only gotten clearer.”
