it's my babyâs birthday, posted exactly on 12 amđđ
itâs still early when you open your eyes. that soft hour between dawn and morning when everything feels slow and golden. sunlight slips gently through the curtains, stretching across the room until it lands on heeseungâs beautiful face. he stirs a little, half-buried in the blanket, eyelashes fluttering.
you try to blink awake beside him, hair a mess, eyes still foggy from sleep. for a moment, you just stare at the boy beside you. heâs got that soft, sleepy expression. mouth slightly open, brows relaxed, face so relaxed it makes your chest ache.
and then it hits you.
âoh my god,â you whisper dramatically. âyouâre twenty-four.â
he groans without opening his eyes. âdonât remind meâŚâ
you grin, already shifting closer until youâre practically nose to nose with him, while he slowly opens his eyes, blinking at you. âno, no, no, this is serious. youâre twenty-four. my babyâs an old man now.â
he cracks one eye open, squinting at you. â...old man, seriously?â his voice comes out low, raspy, still heavy with sleep.
âmhmm,â you hum, poking his cheek. âyouâre so old. a grown man. mature, wise and wrinkly, if you want.â
he snorts, finally turning to face you properly, voice still soft. âwrinkly? i turned twenty-four, not forty.â
âsame thing!â you declare dramatically, flopping halfway onto his chest. âyouâre my old man now.â
âyour what?â he asks, laughing quietly, but his cheeks are pink, and that only makes you coo harder.
âmy old man,â you repeat, pinching his cheek gently. âlook at you. my babyâs all grown up. i remember when you were all shy and awkward and looked like a scared hamster half the time.â
he groans, dragging the blanket over his face. âdonât start with this againâŚâ
you pull the blanket back with a grin, hovering over him now. âyou were, though! a tiny, nervous trainee with the biggest eyes and the softest voice. now look at youâ tall, confident, ridiculously pretty.â you sighed dramatically, shaking your head while clutching your heart, âthey grow up so fast.â
he covers his face with both hands, muffled laughter spilling out. âyou sound like a mom right now.â
you gasp, pretending to be offended. âi do not!â
he peeks out between his fingers. âyou totally do. âmy babyâs grown up,â âlook at you now,â âthey grow up so fast,ââ he imitates you in a soft, teasing voice.
you narrow your eyes playfully, then immediately jump himâ peppering his face with rapid, messy kisses.
âtake that backâ kiss
âno!â he laughs, squirming.
âtake it back!â kiss kiss kiss
ây/n, stopâ i canâtââ he breaks into full giggles, his voice cracking with laughter as you keep going.
you finally stop, both of you breathless and laughing, his cheeks covered in a soft crimson.
âyouâre still so cuteâ you murmur, cupping his cheeks, voice softening.
he looks at you with that sleepy, shy smile that always makes your heart flutter. âyouâre crazy, you know that?â
âyeah,â you agree easily, brushing a strand of hair off his forehead. âcrazy over you.â
he groans again, hiding under your arm this time, voice muffled. âyou canât just say things like that in the morning.â
you laugh quietly, tracing circles on his shoulder. âyouâre glowing, by the way.â
he peeks up again, puzzled. âglowing?â
âmmhm.â you squint at him dramatically, pretending to inspect his face. âyeah. youâve got, like, this glow. maybe itâs a birthday glow.â
he chuckles, turning his head slightly. âa birthday glow? thatâs not a thing.â
âit is now,â you say with complete confidence. âlook at youâ shiny hair, soft skin, your eyes all sparkly. itâs giving âiâm twenty-four and living happily.â
he laughs again, shaking his head. âyouâre so weird.â
âand you love it,â you shoot back instantly.
he smiles, eyes curving in that soft way that always makes your heart squeeze. âyeah,â he admits quietly. âi really do.â
you grin, leaning down to kiss his nose. âhappy birthday, old man.â
âstop calling me that,â he murmurs, laughing into your shoulder.
ânever,â you whisper, pressing one more kiss to his temple. âyouâll always be my baby. even when youâre eighty.â
he hums, voice sleepy again, words mumbled against your skin. âthen i guess⌠youâll still be my girl.â
you smile, brushing your fingers through his hair. âalways.â
