Those who assume much more self-control from an average person than is realistic are also the ones to downplay their own autonomy. Curious that
do you agree with this?

This is an exciting topic, but I really struggled with wording this, I hope it’s coherent.
She does make a good point that males have a lot more drive than women and that cannot be attributed only to the social barriers. However, in typical feminist fashion, she goes on to spin this female lack as a virtue by pathologizing male drive and diagnosing them with a sort of womb envy 🙄 as usual women can’t resist the urge to romanticise motherhood and hallucinate their own superiority. But I think she’s right that motherhood plays a role.
"If civilization had been left in female hands, we would still be living in grass huts."
Why are men more driven?
I don’t think she’s entirely wrong to question the greatness of the male ambition, but my theories diverge slightly, obviously I don’t think men are driven to pursue genius because they envy the woman’s capacity to create (lol!). But I do think she’s right that it comes from the fact that females have inherent biological value (everything revolves around reproduction) while men don’t, so they don’t have much to sacrifice (men are cheap, expendable) but everything to win. However she seems to imply that unlike women, men don’t feel whole because they can’t get pregnant? I disagree with that…it’s an idealistic framework that projects feelings onto a simpler cost benefit situation which also conveniently redeems women (shocker). I think, to put it simply, men pursue genius because they are incentivised to do it, whereas women aren’t, as well as it aligning with male status seeking behaviour.
A while ago I described mankind as “half the population dragging the other half along history by the hair” aka males forcing women into existence (slavery) through the system of coercion , because unlike women, men have every reason to want to continue the species (it serves them), meanwhile the species has only ever abused and exploited women (they serve it) and I think that might be part of the answer to our question. Women have no skin in the game. That’s not to paint women as innocent victims, because they obviously coauthor this system to some capacity—though there is definitely nuance here, it’s more deterministic—but if we boil it down, they are passive objects within it.
Men have legacy, men have honor, glory, a reward at the end of the rocky road of greatness.
In a man’s world, a woman pursuing genius isn't just working hard, she is liquidating her primary social capital (her youth/fertility) for a speculative gain that society might not even recognize. She will never achieve the same status, her value comes from her ability to give birth and martyr herself, and if she sacrifices her value in order to pursue greatness she is seen as a traitor rather than a genius. Why would a woman stay celibate and give up her usefulness to pursue something a man could do for free? Why spend the effort of pursuing genius when she could spend it being pregnant? (Unironically that meme of the woman saying “i became a dr” vs “i gave birth to 10 drs” perfectly sums up society’s attitude to female genius) Society doesn’t see a woman’s achievements, but rather the price she had to pay, which is her purpose as a broodmare. Why is this object stepping out of line, why is this cattle chasing personhood? Why is the canvas trying to become the artist? If women are the "resource" that history runs on, then a woman seeking genius is effectively a theft of resources from the collective, a wasted incubator. Only men can afford the required ego to chase glory.
And the lack of ego isn’t only socially engineered. Paglia is right, that there aren’t many women geniuses because they are busy being mothers, and as we have seen through countless studies by now, motherhood literally shrinks the brain and reduces one’s capacity and identity, pregnancy hijacks the mother to turn her into the perfect protector and vessel for her child, her own self erased to prioritise continuation. How could such a person (or what’s left of her) climb the already steep mountain towards greatness? It takes twice the effort and produces less than half the results, because as I’ve already established, a woman simply isn’t incentivised to climb that mountain. So no wonder there are less women geniuses.
I could go on about male sadism vs female masochism, “the one that inflicts and the one that is inflicted upon” as the core dynamic, but I’ll save that for another post in which I will go into more detail trying to get to the core of male vs female differences. And that one will require a lot more research.
Whenever I get to witness and interact with the higher classes I realise “oh wow, we are different species” their world is completely alien to me, the way they move, the way they act, the way they speak, a different culture entirely, I’m not sure I could ever bridge that gap tbh, I can instantly tell when someone grew up in that environment and I’m sure same goes vice versa, they can smell the poor on you xd
I am fairly left-leaning (well, depends on who you ask), and these are some of my opinions that'd get me flayed in most (especially really western) leftist spaces:
The world doesn't primarily care if you're correct or moral. If you want even a slight change for the better, get power. Not at all cost, of course, but power is the means by which you bring about any change, not (correctly) yelling about how unfair it all is. This will mean sacrificing some of your moral perfectionism.
I don't give much of a shit about which slurs anyone anywhere says as long as no crimes are committed. If you care, good luck enforcing it with your limited energy!
Imperfect change for the better will be all we will ever achieve. There won't ever be any utopia. I'm not gonna waste time dreaming about it.
If you're in a defensive alliance and you want your small, meaningless country to leave it for moral reasons yet you have no other plan to ensure your people's defense, you may as well shoot yourself with how much self-preservation instincts you have.
Human nature isn't fundamentally good and only corrupted by capitalism or consumerism or whichever boogyman. There are mass graves and clear evidence of brutal warfare from the fucking stone age.
It's a complete waste of time and money to try to rehabilitate some criminals.
The "patriarchy" (whatever you call it) is partially evolutionary in origin. Socialization fails to explain its persistent, universal, transhistorical and cross-cultural nature. Did almost every culture that's ever existed simultaneously decide to bring men and women up a certain way for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with anyone's reproductive success, the only evolutionary driving force?
War is sometimes absolutely necessary, but it's always a mass amalgamation of the worst of human suffering and never glorious. Complete pacifism is morally correct, but suicidal. "We should never have any wars". Yes, and nobody should ever get cancer or die either. Good luck!
I agree with these points. It's sad how we can't talk with people on the left about this, because they're utterly lost in ideologies. They're not realistic and all kind of discourse is immediately shut down. At least that's how it is in my country, but I think this is a general thing.
Yes, I definitely agree. They're so idealistic and ideologically perfectionistic they can, ironically enough, get pretty vile towards anyone who questions anything even slightly.
Yes, I agree in theory that everyone in the world should be maximally happy and nothing bad should ever happen to anyone and we all should sing kumbaya. I would absolutely love that. I doubt that there are many people who wouldn't love that. But that's not the world we live in, and it's never gonna be the world we live in and we can't afford to act like it is in any way achievable.
I was agreeing with you lol.. I was talking in response to the women who put up a front as if they're staunchly antinatalist/childfree only to back peddle once they start feeling their age. I personally don't believe in that "peer pressure" nonsense I believe it's a mixed back of searching for meaning, loneliness, boredom and biological desires.
Oops, sorry I misunderstood you lol
I think peer pressure definitely has to do with it especially when it comes to celibacy, because at some point people start to question what is wrong with you, they stop trying to convince you and they start looking at you with pity and confusion and some women can’t stand that, the “loneliness” that comes with it too when they realise nobody cares about them bc everyone has a partner to love and that they are “left overs”, you definitely become naturally an outcast if you stay celibate and not always because people hate childless single women, it just happens when you get to that age when everyone else around you has their own family to worry about and socialising starts being “families and other families” and you being the weirdo that no one can relate to and doesn’t fit in. I think mothers bond over their pain and suffering so if you can’t relate they have no reason to associate with you.
humanity exists at women's expense no matter what way you look at it. in fact i don't think it's cooperation that's at the heart of this species' success, it's extortion. as a woman your offsprings' success directly correlates to how much they can take from you. being depended on to such a massive degree is a really bad place to be, especially when there are no outs other than a highly despised ideology (antinatalism) for which people would burn you alive not even 300 years ago.
the most hard hitting things to me, when i was into feminism, were the things that were most true about women. couldn't fight back against it. i knew it was right and that's why it stung so bad.
there are so many good insights about women from dudes but shit it hurts to read them.
"women are best when they're dumb because intelligent women tend to be unhappy".
lol it's true you need to be a dumbass to enjoy being female. best is when you have no big aspirations so you can't get disappointed by the severe social and physical limitations of femaleness ever, and being intelligent (or curious or creative or analytical or philosophical or talented) is just not conducive to that :')
"women's rights are destructive to societies and the traditional family unit is the most self-sustaining model for a country"
well what can i say, the countries that dared to try are currently at high replacement levels because the mule back at home is not doing her job
when people say they love women, 9 times out of 10 they mean they love the IDEA of women. not actual individuals like you and me. they love the idea of a generous loving sweet life-giver whom they project compassion and tenderness onto. interacting with an actual woman, like a real human being with both the good and the bad, disappoints them cuz the real deal doesn't live up to the romanticized version. most people you meet hate women. whether that's justified or not is a different conversation.
i don't trust mothers' ability to make sound judgments to the point where a matriarchy sounds more like a threat than something to aspire to. at least patriarchy gives individual outs if you nlog hard enough. besides that, why in the world would you put someone who has shown that they are intellectual impaired by willingly subjecting themselves to pregnancy into a position of power?
since you don't need 27 people to do what can be done by 1 or 2, usually the tasks will be delegated to those most capable and available. males are both observably more capable and not chained down by very specific, unpleasant, and demanding anatomical needs like women are, meaning available. once again why would you put someone who is already burdened by their own anatomy into positions where they need to exert a lot of energy, when there's someone else who doesn't have that problem to begin with.
pisses me off that women's coping mechanism (femininity) is considered as a privilege by many people. everything about female behavior is misread, misconstrued, lied about, distorted, to where nobody can pinpoint the most basic "whys" behind it when it's extremely simple.
try to think from a dude's pov and you'll understand just how lacking your life experience as a female is in comparison
society could never have been any other way due to women's role in reproduction.
why reproduction/sex lie at the core of society and define its ways? 👁️
it is what it is bro, women's role in reproduction makes them a resource that can be exploited and it's human nature to take advantage of what can be exploited.
"slap the dick right outta her mouth" WELL THERE'S NO OTHER WAY SHE'D STOP, IS THERE???
