It hasn’t been this dangerous to ride a bicycle on American roads or streets in 30 years. This year, Outside is tracking every cycling traffic fatality and reporting that data here. Read more about why we’ve embarked on the #2020cyclingdeaths project.
Winter mornings with friends 🙌
More cities are going car free in their city centers and/or certain zones. Great to see, so many benefits!
Ghent’s overnight transformation produced shorter journeys, cleaner air and a cycling explosion
Why do cyclists ride in the middle of the road? Because they are advised to, and because it's the safe thing to do.
Cyclists are not only allowed to take the full lane in the US & UK, but are advised and encouraged.
Reducing the number of cars reduced the number of traffic fatalities.

More bike time than walking & vehicle combined 🤘

Upcoming Event: Experiments in Time
Wednesday July 11th / 6PM @ Golden Gate Polo Fields
Let’s take advantage of the long summer days to hang out after work and ride bikes! Invite your friends! Everyone is welcome! We’ll have a bunch of beers, and a few snacks :) Here’s the format of the event: - Each rider will get a chance to ride a few laps of the polo field to warm up. After getting an idea of their desired pace, the rider will guess how long it will take them to ride 8 laps (multiply the pace you can hold for one lap by 8). - After the rider’s predicted time has been recorded, they will be allowed one lap to get up to speed before the timer starts. The rider will not be allowed to carry any visible Garmin, watch or timer of any kind while they are riding. - After riding 8 laps, the rider’s time will be recorded, and compared to their predicted time. - The rider that gets the closest to their predicted time wins! There will be a few small prizes :) You might be asking yourself, what kind of bike to bring… Run what you brung!! This is the perfect opportunity to bring out that bike you wish you rode more. Whether that is your track bike, TT bike, beach cruiser, cargo bike, tandem bike… it’s all good! This event is about consistency, not speed, so there is no ideal bike for this. It might get a little chilly when cheering on friends and hanging out in the bleachers, so make sure to bring an extra layer. Even if you don’t feel like riding, come and hang out!
