There are winter coats flung over the couch, hats and scarves ready to be packed away until next time. For now though, it looks like a department store exploded with all the stuff everywhere. It takes a minute of tossing things around the living room before Joyce finds the right box. There’s bright yellow and crisp white poking out the top.

“Some of these might be a little big, but I can take them in if she needs. But it’s almost summer and I thought, y’know, some sundresses she might like,” they’re old, sure. Some things that Joyce hadn’t had the heart to wear in quite a long time, but it didn’t mean they were bad and it didn’t mean someone- Jane specifically- couldn’t get some use out of. “She can’t wear overalls all the time.”

BROAD SHOULDERS LINGER IN THE DOORWAY , a chief’s hat held in both hands as he watches joyce rush around the room EAGERLY. her kindness was inspiring , made him feel warm inside. it had been her idea to give jane the byers infamous hand-me-downs. hopper can already see jane’s face LIGHT UP in his head , it was her shot at being like any other little girl. he enters the room, setting his hat aside & moving to stand beside joyce , analysing the clothes. ❛ she’s gonna love them, joyce --- ❜ he’s CLOSE to her , not too close , he peers down at the smaller woman & smiles gently.

THE TWO OF THEM HAD BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH , he was grateful they had made it out ALIVE. god knows what he would have done if he’d lost any of them , it was almost his duty to keep them safe. ❛ i thought the overalls were pretty cool ... ❜ a small chuckle , the man’s a softie inside. his kid looked BADASS in anything she wore. it was strange , everything felt STILL , like there was potential that it could REMAIN that way , like everything was going to be okay.
