Meleris ā¢ T ā¢ First Meeting
There is someone new in the woods.
Eris rarely visits the Underworld. The way she sees it, the best thing her mother ever did for her was shipping her and her brothers off to the Temple of Styx when she was an infant so that Nyx could babysit Lord Hadesās son in peace. (Or as Nyx put it, so that her youngest children could ālearn how to manage the mortals in their domains under Charonās direct supervisionā, but come on.) That system worked well enough for the twins, but being supervised wasnāt Erisās style. When they hit adolescence and Hades summoned them to work for him in his House, Eris was out of there before Charon could finish making the announcement. They never looked for her, and she never looked back.
As far as Eris is concerned, the surface is superior to the Underworld in almost every way. Sure, she gets heavy wings and a blinding headache if she stays up there for too long, but the chaos makes it all worth it. Shades are diluted by regret and reflection. Living mortals are raw and chaotic, so full ofĀ wantĀ and so desperate to fulfill it, that they will sow any manner of discord. Itās beautiful.
These days, though, some of that chaos has made its way down to the Underworld. Eris couldnāt care less about Chronosās remodeling, but sheĀ lovesĀ what heās doneā or hasnāt doneā with Erebus. Left untended, those once-sterile halls of judgment have become a wilderness as wild and untamed as Eris herself. It gives her a sense of satisfaction to fly through it, seeing her domain overgrow that of King Hades. And the shades down here have better gossip, these days.
But the figure that has caught Erisās eye this time is not a shade at all; she glows so brightly she almost hurts to look at.Ā AlmostĀ being the key word, because frankly, sheās too hot to be a mortal, with flawless pale skin, a sleek blonde bob, and vibrant, mismatched eyes.
To say nothing of how, when a shade attacks her, she ensnares it in a ring and burns it to dust right before Erisās eyes.
Interesting.Ā VeryĀ interesting. Eris prides herself on having messed with the lives of every powerful goddess. Who is this one she knows nothing about? And why, of all places, did she comeĀ here?
