What happens when you listen to Dear Evan Hansen after a long long time again, but your brain is in full Les Miserables mode???
Right, you subconsciously start to rewrite the songs until you finally give in and bring it to paper!
Also some more Cosplay Pics!
So here's what I came up with: Grantaire singing 'Requiem' during Lamarques funeral when he goes drinking at the Corinthe (I've mixed the Cafés a little bit as they do in the musical) because Enjolras didn't explicitly invite him to the barricades.
So this either happens right before he passes out or it is his step closer to committing to the cause (explaining why he shows up on the barricades during the musical). Him imagining a word, where his friends have fallen and he has not participated in the riot.
Does this make sence? I hope! I had a lot of fun zoning out and writing this down and I'd love to maybe record it…? I'm not a good singer though, so we will see…
Grantaires Requiem
('Requiem' from Dear Evan Hansen)
Why should I play this game of pretend?
Claiming there's nothing I wouldn't go through
Leading my friends to their certain end
You fight a desperate war!
I could curl up and stay in this room
Backroom Musain, still drinking tomorrow
Rather than join your pathway to doom
Cause tell me, tell me what for?
Why should I have a heavy heart?
Why should I start to take your orders?
Why should I join and give my life to you?
Why should I be the grieving guy and try
When the night falls silent
And when my world has gone dark without your light
Try to sing no requiem that night
Those that you call, they will not be there
And don't pretend, that I didn't warn you
Your effort's wasted, no one will care
I'll try to sing no requiem
And still your voice calls crystal clear
Pulling me in so I shall stand by you
But there is no chance of that my dear
I will sing no requiem that night!
Why should I have a heavy heart?
Why should I ask what we could have been?
Why should I join and give my life to you?
Why should I be the grieving guy and try
When the night falls silent
And when my world has gone dark without your light
Try to sing no requiem that night
Cause when the riots fail the kingdoms never weep
Who will light a candle to remember?
No, injustice will prevail those roots grow deep!
No you will not catch me ever looking back!
Don't tell me that it wasn't red and black!
And I know you'll do what's right
Better future in your sight
You might turn into the Monster, that you fight!
Cause I cannot be the grieving guy and try
When the night falls silent
And when my world has gone dark…
Try to sing no requiem that night
