This was my illustrations for my final project at uni. These women represent every zodiac in javanese astrology. Every element represents characteristic of each zodiac, such as color and flower. It took me one month to brainstrom the first illustration and for other it only took 1-2 days to finish. It was stressful but it helped me to find my ‘fave’ style that defined my personality.

My Cintiq Companion 1’s Journey

Heya! I just want to share some of my experience with my cintiq companion generation 1. It’s old I know and there’e already new Mobile Studio Pro but lemme tell you something. For first year of use, it was great, fantastic even though there’s a one dot dead pixel in the middle of the screen but overall it was super.

Then later something was wrong (I bought my Cintiq on 4th February 2014 fyi), the so called PLUGGED IN BUT NOT CHARGING issue. I read so many article about it being broken and it sucks. And even worse I moved away from Germany back to Indonesia so I can’t service it at all.

For some times it resolved itself and I could use it normally before I went to college but then it broke AGAIN. I left it for one year without touching it until I really need my cintiq for my design assignment. So I went online but most of first generation owner had already exchange it with the second generation and the issue never solved.

I brought my Cintiq to official service center for Wacom and it took them 3 F MONTHS just to say that I need to change the motherboard price for almost the same price as the new Cintiq Companion 2 then I said “Fuck it, I don’t wanna” so I took my Cintiq back still broken.

I was hopeless and I decided to only buy pen tablet for my assignment while still looking for the answer. I have a little knowledge about computer, I cleaned my other laptop and dismantled it so I brave myself to open my cintiq and OH BOY OH BOY it’s more complicated than my other laptop but at least I know where the charger input (?).

Some people had problem with the pin inside the charger being broken or bent but mine is fine, so I assumed my problem is with the input. After researching for some time it turned out the solder from the input was detached from the motherboard. “AHA” I said, I can’t soldering but I was considering till I gave up the thought.

I left it to the professional, I went to common service center and I explained what’s wrong with my Cintiq and the fixer said to let it stay overnight to examination. A week passed I called the fixer, he said he still waiting for the spare part so I wait for another 3 days then he called me it cannot be fixed. I was shock, my soul leaves my body and I just can say “Okay” then I cried.

I tried to sleep until suddenly my phone dings. HOLY COW! The fixer said it could be fixed! I was overjoyed and the next day I picked it up. It works until know (with extra care).

I can’t afford new Cintiq so I tried every possible way to fix it and I’m glad it worked. If you someone who still have Cintiq Companion 1, I suggest you find the issue, your issue may different from me, then try to fix it yourself or professionally. It only costed me around ~30$ to fix my Cintiq.

I forgot to mention my charger input was only loose before it detach from the motherboard.
