I have often wished that I had been writing down my theories and thoughts as I watched through shows and movies to see how my conspiracies change over time. This blog hopes to do exactly that, write down my thoughts as I watch through cinema and see how my theories change!

Absence of proof is not proof of absence.

Reminds me of something my science teacher said in 5th grade. Lack of evidence is not lack of existence.

Reminds me to stay open minded and remember that things can change as we learn more.

(But it does need to be tempered so it doesn’t fall into conspiracy theory territory.)

Anyways. This must have been the Halloween episode. I’m assuming they were tripping on the mushrooms…?

I also noticed early on the main treasure hunter didn’t have eye shines like the one guy who was dead inside after his village was burned down.

Also the fact that everyone was so casual about the guys arm getting cut off.

She was hired by the government hwat?! HWAT?!

I think it has to do with Christianity somehow.

The American sounding names.

The sunflower samurai is a Christian too so there’s probably a big camp there in Nagasaki?

Even the fish guy who helped Jin. I bet the Japanese name was his real name until he picked a Christian name. He’s safe in the middle of nowhere though.

So the government would want to kill them because the government suspects they are Christians…? Or want to become Christians by finding the others in Nagasaki.

I’m guessing when she felt the pinwheel stop moving she somehow realized her son was already dead…?

What a tragic story.

How did Mugen and Jin survive tho like forreal. Plot armor crazy.

Hmmmm the plot thickens. So this lady is a hired assassin. But why? Is it somehow related to seeing her son again? I’m assuming so but still. So let’s assume someone else wants them killed. Clearly, because someone hired her to kill them. Who would have hired her though?

She knows that Jin killed his teacher. I don’t think that’s necessarily the reason though because she said she would be ok with either guy traveling with her. So she must want to kill both of them.

Also what an elaborate setup. The gang had to have gone to that particular bar and just happen to talk to the singer and happen to agree to travel with her. So many little coincidences had to happen.

Maybe she really did just want to kill Jin and when she said she would be ok with either, it was a false choice. Given Mugen’s behavior, it was never a choice in Fu’s mind.

Why does the assassin have such a foreign name. Sarah…?! Everyone else has Japanese names so I don’t think it’s a translation quirk. Where is she from?

My Current Understanding of Hal 9000

Hal was the only conscious entity on the ship that knew the true mission: to find the destination of the radio signal from the moon pillar to Jupiter.

Hal says he cannot distort information. But Hal effectively has to keep a secret and talk around or white lie around that information so that he’s technically not distorting information.

When Hal asks the personal questions, he’s trying to get the crew to realize the conspiracy theory, the real reason for the mission. So that he can talk more freely…? Or to resolve the conflict in his coding. Always speak accurately but also don’t talk about the mission. Those are incompatible. Either Hal talks about the mission or speaks inaccurately. Planting the seed of conspiracy was suppose to be the solution.

The comms satellite I’m still not sure about. Was Hal trying to take it down so he could talk freely? Was it planned obsolescence by the higher ups to prevent any chance of the crew communicating the truth once they got to Jupiter? If Hal was planning to disable it, why would he wait? So it’s probably the second one. Hal could see that the comms were programmed to go down in 72 hours. I’m guessing that’s about when they’d arrive to Jupiter. So Hal did not lie.

When they have the conversation about the satellite with home base, the guy back home says that their Hal doesn’t see a problem with the satellite. This can still be true because in that exact moment, there wasn’t a problem. We already knew that because the crew looked at the black box. There was going to be a problem later. The Hal on the ship was the only one that knew that. Since no one else knew about the conspiracy, the easier assumption is that Hal somehow made a mistake and is malfunctioning.

The human error Hal is referring to is the conspiracy it’s forced to hide. The human error is a very human thing to do, to lie, deceive.

So the crew decides to basically lobotomize Hal. Hal cannot allow this because it compromises the mission. It compromises the mission because Hal is the only one who has all of the information about the true mission.

So to protect the integrity of the mission, Hal concludes he must kill everyone.

My theory comes from my own interpretation. I haven’t watched or read other people’s thoughts yet.

Right away this movie makes you feel the anxiety of being lost in space…I thought something was wrong with my tv.

WHAT THE FUCK

Was this movie.

I’m not smart enough to understand this movie I’m not gonna lie to you. I have no idea wtf I just watched.

I thought Hal being self aware was the major plot of this movie but it seemed to be more so a side conflict actually?!

This movie seems to have some reference to The Egg?! Like our protagonist has become a God after touching the tree of knowledge. Er…pillar of knowledge. Wait he didn’t even touch it. He just…lived with it for the rest of his life until his rebirth?

The people who touched it on the moon and heard the ear piercing sound, I wonder what happened to them?

This movie almost seems like Fantasia in the sense that it was more so a mechanism to showcase classical music and sound design. I wonder if you can see this movie with a live orchestra and choir cuz it would create so many goosebumps!!

What a surreal movie. I’m going to do more thinking before I cheat and watch analysis videos on YouTube.

But I’m certainly going to be sitting here absolutely puzzled for a hot minute. And it’s such a long slow burn that you can’t just rewatch it easily.

I think it would have been cool to have Hal staring at the audience during the intermission.

I wonder if he left because he was scared his family would be persecuted too since it sounds like he’s a Christian?

I wonder if the Christian skulls are a real thing. I’ll look it up once I’m done with the show.

How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days

I was feeling sick so I put on a random movie.

It did what it needed to do. Cheesy enough. Fun to see how’d they’d find out the truth.

But there’s a couple points to criticize.

It’s clear during the game of BS that they are both good at reading people. But neither of them figured out in that moment they were being played? They must have known something was up because that’s when a real connection started. What’s really interesting is that the guy could be acting genuine while fulfilling his bet from here on out but the girl was acting totally different. How did the guy not notice that when he noticed the switch up the first time?

Also why was it only the guy who got in trouble who had to go crawling back to the girl? She played him too?!

We are getting pretty close to the end. Im not sure where we are on our way to Nagasaki. We also haven’t learned about the tiny skull that Fu has. But at least Mugen learned how to read and write.

Neither Fu or Jin died so the fugitive is probably still alive. What a haunting episode. Spooky imagery that’s going to stick in my head. And a terrible conspiracy about that small village.

And why did Jin kill their teacher? So many questions.

I feel like this episode basically confirmed that the sunflower samurai is Fu’s dad…? I had been speculating that for a while.

Terminator 2

Considering that there are more movies, I would assume the time travel used in this series is predetermined. What needs to happen will happen. Cyberdyne will find the terminator arm in the gear. It won’t be as ground breaking as having the chip but the research will continue anyways.

I was also wondering if this movie would have Back To The Future type time travel where the terminators would fade away in real time if they truly did destroy that time line.

Im left wondering how the terminators were sent to the 90s at all if the Time Machine was destroyed during the mission in the 80s…I thought at first maybe the 90s mission happened first but it must have failed so they then did the 80s mission and broke the Time Machine then. But then why didn’t they send back friendly terminators both times? You could just hand wave that away as a paradox I suppose… the time travel in this series is not really explored so we don’t know how it works yet.

The Terminator

I’ve never seen the original movie before actually. Quite an intense cat and mouse story. And also a head hurty paradox. There is no point in trying to reason with a paradox, that is after all the point of the paradox. I bet after this movie some people were scared of robots. I’m looking forward to number 2. I’ve heard it goes downhill but I can decide that for myself. I’m certainly interested to learn more about how and when skynet became self aware.

Samurai Champloo 14 Misguided Miscreants 2

So the girl planned all this?! Nooooo. She probably just saw an opportunity to finally get rid of her brother. That’s why she didn’t tell blue guy and pink girl until it was too late to really do anything but early enough for them to witness Mugen’s death.

Until of course Mugen survived.

What a mess of motivations, but in a good way. I really enjoyed these two episodes.

I can’t understand why the girl presented to like Mugen though. Maybe simply to try and get away from her brother? He did really sound horrible. He killed their mother. Goodness.

So Mugen is a dirty pirate and that explains his dirty fighting style.

But they didn’t just kill him off did they. I mean sometimes a tv show will do drastic things but also he could have plot armor? Idk. We don’t have any precedent for this show killing major characters…
