New episode of TohoScope! This time taking a look at one of Toho’s most obscure films in their science fiction library: Monster Snowman aka Half Human!
New episode of Countdown!
Today, we’re taking a look at my ten favorite Godzilla video games in a very late E3-inspired video.
CinemaGoji lives! Apologies for the absence, I’ve been hit with a summer heatwave of laziness as well as preparations for the soon-to-arrive G-FEST.
Regardless, today I’m proud to introduce the first episode of a new series: TohoScope!
TohoScope is a video retrospective/review series that will take a look at all of Toho’s science fiction films from the beginning and offer facts about the production, previously unknown trivia, and my own personal review of each film!
In the inaugural episode, we take a look at the film that started it all: the original Godzilla from 1954!
Apologies for any audio issues. This episode is a trial run for the format and editing of this series. Future episodes will be much more cleaned up!
New episode of Kaiju 101!
In this episode, I tackle the facts behind Godzilla’s three-headed arch rival, King Ghidorah!
New Countdown video!
Taking a look at my ten favorite Godzilla suit designs!
I’ve posted a minor and informal update video about the future of the channel for this upcoming summer and beyond.
Also, I was tagged!
New episode of Kaiju 101!
Today’s episode is focused on the history, origins, and characterization of Mothra!
New Spotlight episode!
On this edition of Spotlight, we’re taking a look at Toho’s most famous science fiction director, Ishiro Honda!
Class is in session! Introducing: Kaiju 101!
Kaiju 101 is a brand new series devoted to teaching newcomers to the world of kaiju films the ins-and-outs of the genre!
This series was heavily inspired by @chrismcfeely‘s Transformers: The Basics series and @godzillawiki‘s Kaiju Profile videos and aims to be a series of videos that can be shown to people who are new to the fandom and want to know more.
Apologies for the quality of audio in this one. I recorded this when I was a little under-the-weather and one segment got accidentally cut off by the transition and had to be reinserted during editing.
Also apologies in the slowdown of videos from now until May. I’m in my third semester of college and will try to use some of my downtime to make new videos. But come summer, we’ll be seeing a huge surge of videos, maybe even one a week!
Thanks for watching!
New year, new channel trailer!
Nothing out of the ordinary, just a fancy new channel trailer I decided to make, considering the original one features outdated plans for series I’ve decided not to make. This new one is also a lot more new-user friendly and in the present tense.
And new series’ announced! More information below!
It’s time for a Countdown!
Introducing a brand new series on CinemaGoji: Countdown! Nothing too special, just a basic list series I can make should I ever feel drained of any ideas.
The inagural episode is about my 10 favorite Godzilla monsters! The world of Toho’s giant monster movies is immense and whittling down ten favorites was no easy task!
Enjoy! Next planned video is another Spotlight, followed by the first installment in a new secret series! Stay tuned for the 2018 Channel Trailer for more information!
This channel isn’t dead! It’s a Christmas miracle!
Introducing Episode 02 of Spotlight! This time, we’re focusing on the man behind the original Godzilla, as well as countless other daikaiju: Haruo Nakajima!
This was meant to be finished by September of this year, but unfortunately college gets in the way (as it usually does). But now that I am on Christmas break, I can work on videos to my heart’s content! I’ll be doing a non-Spotlight video next and hoping to have it out by next week!
G-FEST and End of Summer Plans
Hello everyone!
Earlier this season, I posted a message that I would have a video out by the end of the summer.
About two weeks after I posted that message, my main computer died. I’m currently writing this from a backup laptop. Not to worry, as most of the CinemaGoji stuff was kept on a separate hard drive from the one that failed. I have access to all my original plans, but I do not have any way to edit the videos togethe. I should have a new computer by September at the least.
I can try to install Sony Vegas Movie Studio onto this laptop, but heaven knows if it will run properly.
So unfortunately the late summer video will most likely be posted around early Fall. Apologies for the (potential) delay.
Now onto the second part of this update: G-FEST!
I’ll be at G-FEST this year, all three days of the convention. I’ll most likely be walking around the convention or at the Pickwick seeing Godzilla (2014), War for the Planet of the Apes, Kong: Skull Island, and Shin Godzilla.
I plan to take as much video footage as I can and compile it together to make a video, which I’ll upload to the channel.
Thanks for reading this update! I promise new videos will be out as quick as I can make them!
NOT DEAD!
Hello! Just a quick update that this channel isn’t dead!
I’m currently working on scripts for a few “Countdowns” or top 10/5 lists. Sure it’s not the most in-depth content, but it’s at least something to put on the channel!
Keep your eyes peeled to this blog, I’ll be uploading a new video this summer!
Any interest out there in a video about lost Godzilla media?
Feels like a good time to give an update...
Hello everyone, sorry that this channel/blog has basically been dead since the beginning of December 2016. That can primarily be traced to my own feelings of obligation to make videos for this channel. I don’t like to make videos, or any sort of creative content, just to make something or to appease someone. I like to make things on my own time with my own ambitions as opposed to just crapping out content because it needs to be there.
I am also someone whose interests often sway from one franchise/phenomenon to another. It sounds weird, but to put it simply: some days I like one thing and some days I like another thing. Like, one day I’ll be interested in Transformers and the next day I’ll be focused on Godzilla. This isn’t a problem for me, as I don’t go so far as to completely hate a franchise, but it’s definitely a roadblock when it comes to making content.
Another big problem has been school. I’ve just started my first semester at my local community college, majoring in Digital Media: Video & Audio. I have classes every day of the week, 9:00 - 1:50 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and from 9:00 - 10:50 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So yes, I still have ample time to devote to creative hobbies such as this channel. However, that once again hearkens to the last paragraph which pertains to my personal feelings at the time. Editing videos, gathering source materials, etc. etc. is a lot of work and most of my non-school hours, I just do not have the urge to sit on the computer for 4 more hours and make a video. I’m not a video-making machine, I needs muh downtime!
To some folks, these may sound like excuses, and perhaps maybe they are. But the bottom line is simple: I produce videos on my own time and when I feel like it. If I have other priorities, not all of which involve school work or rest time, I’m not going to shove them aside to make something just for the hell of it.
Or, if you want a TL;DR: Haven’t made videos in a while because I don’t really have a creative drive and I’m occupied with school work among other things.
So once again, apologies for the extreme lack of content from CinemaGoji. I hope I can start up the channel again (maybe during Spring Break or in the Summertime?) and produce more videos for you guys to enjoy. I appreciate your understanding :)
CinemaGoji update!
Greetings followers!
Apologies for the inactivity regarding the channel. I’ve been distracted by other things, mostly involving life, but also preparing for next week’s big Shin Godzilla premiere!
The next video in the works is a Top 10 video, focusing on my personal favorite Godzilla monsters!
While it isn’t a particularly “scholarly” or informative video, it is something that’s easier to work with that doesn’t require a whole ton of research. I’ll try to include a random fact for each kaiju so it’s at least somewhat different and not just opinion after opinion.
Channel isn’t dead, I’m just busy with life and things!
Thanks for reading!
