hey guys <3 i've been steadily working on my new blog little by little whenever i've had some downtime and it should be done after valentines!!! the holidays will b over by then and i'll have settled back into my regular routine, which (i'm hoping) means i can get back to writing again 💪

green coded: green, a study in living life, growth, and change. you're one of the people who often find themselves believing that anybody can be better than they are right now, should they put in the effort. you know when to quit, of course, but that tolerance is very high. you know when to put faith in the right people, but that knowledge was earned the hard way. the world is a dangerous place, and you know that. but that doesn't mean that life isn't worth living. the world is a place full of danger, of love, of wonder. you know that firsthand.

thinking about odette on this fine saturday morn 🦢😍 she wasn't the first or last to be cursed by rothbart, but the other swan maidens made her the swan queen anyway because she was the only one who didn't seem to succumb to the hopelessness all the other swans had. rothbart likes his women miserable, see, and odette knew that, so she refused to be. the swans weren't a unit until odette came along, until odette sought them out one by one and brought them together, because she refused to be doomed to loneliness just bc rothbart said so. look at all the new friends she has now!!!

also here's some 🦢lake lore i made up:

the transformations Hurt (because rothbart is a bastard) and they're ugly too. feathers sprouting out of human skin is not pretty to look at, trust me. plus the reverse of swan to human is also like.... girl oh my god... it's very much a horror transformation.

the longer someone stays cursed the more they begin forgetting their human lives. at first all their memories are still fresh (missing your family but not being able to see them... rothbart feeds off that angst and despair), but the more transformations they go through, the more blurry those memories become, until eventually they start fading away. they'll be aware they're losing those memories too, they're aware they're forgetting, but they can't do anything about it. eventually once all those memories are gone they'll be stuck in their swan form permanently, having lost their human side forever.
