On voting
Voting and the ability to vote has been a very big deal for me. People have literally died for me to have the right to vote. Not voting feels disrespectful to those people who put everything on the line for me to have the right to go to the polls without fear.
But since I’ve adopted this new (really old) way of thinking, my feelings on voting have changed. A lot. I used to be proud to vote, to allow my voice to be heard, to have opinions on things like how the country should be run. I would wear my sticker with pride all day. I would push my friends and coworkers to vote. I wouldn’t go so far as to call myself a feminist but I believed girls had a voice that was equal to that of a man’s.
But now I’m conflicted. Deeply conflicted. I still believe voting is important and one of the best things citizens can do however, I’m not sure if I’m entitled to that right anymore. I’m a girl and as such, I am inferior. And that’s ok. But people died to give this inferior girl a voice. Maybe they were foolhardy in doing so. They certainly had had good intentions I’m sure but I don’t think girls should be allowed to vote.
I did what a girl is supposed to do when confused and looking for answers, I asked my man what he thinks. He also doesn’t think that girls should have the right to vote. He told me he’d prefer it if I didn’t vote but he also believes that voting is important. He told me to vote how he tells me to vote.
It made me incredibly wet and almost giddy when he told me that he really believed girls shouldn’t vote. I was almost ashamed of my involuntary reaction. He reminded me that I reacted that way because I know deep down, that he’s right. If I accept my inferior status then I must accept it fully. I hope that one day when someone asks me who/ what I’m voting for on the ballot, I can say with pride ‘my husband says we’re voting for…’
A fair and cogent explanation of how to navigate the reality of universal suffrage with inclination and desire of a female to obey a Man and fulfill her role.
If obliged to vote (Australia, for instance) or required by a Man, a female should ask for the direction of a her Man and vote accordingly, which has the practical effect of doubling his vote. Or, at his preference, and if permitted by law, not vote at all. Either fulfills the natural mandate of a female to be obedient.
Women who understand their place in the world SHOULD vote, but only to double their owner's vote. He cab use something like Ballot Ready to inform himself of the options available, then give her a list of what to select when she's in the ballot box. Even better, he fills out her mail in ballot, and she signs off without even reading it. Not voting gives more power to the feminists.
