"Hybrid; halfbreed; whatever you will." Off he waves the issue. Perhaps it’ll help the other guy’s anxiousness as well. “‘s far as I know, not too many like me are around. Can’t say I’ve spotted one as o’ yet, but I’ll admit I’m still young.”
"How young is young?" Romulus asks. He supposes he's still young himself, having seen some of the wolves in his family live to grow so old, even if 700 years feels like forever. "I suppose you're at least in the position t'name yourself, are y'not? I mean, you're like a-- a liger or a wholpin. Except maybe you don't have t'stick with an idiotic name for what y'are."
Unamusement colored his features. How his brows inverted inward, furrowing above his eyes. He watched as the other took such joy from his words then quickly shifting. An odd one. An old one as well. Seven hundred years? He wasn’t sure if he wanted such a life span. Perhaps a good few hundred years, but simply to watch on as the world crumbled before him.
Humans were such a funny race of people to him; destroying what they hold to protect.
"You mistook my words." He said simply. There wasn’t a definite emotion that had been laced into his words. Just mere indifference and neutrality.
He cleared his throat. “I don’ care if you don’ ‘ave a clan. Aye, a tad bit odd, but not a first. I’ve met a few like you. By dangerous I meant that it’s dangerous to the entirety of lycans.” A pause, gathering whatever muddled thoughts were lingering in his mind. “Nevermind. Forget I said anything.”
For a moment, he contemplated leaving right there and then, but no, the other had sparked some sort of interest in him. Interest to know what his past decades of living were like. However he knew that perhaps it wasn’t up for first conversation topics.
So, he’d instead settle with a simple, “Dominic.” as he held out his hand for a shake.
Now it's Romulus' turn to look unimpressed. Whether it's because this Dominic has simply given up trying to explain or Rom doesn't like how far he got with the explanation is up for debate, but it doesn't really matter. He's dangerous with a pack, he's dangerous without one-- it's a fact of life that somebody will always think him a threat. He can't win.
But he's used to that.
"It's forgotten, mate."
It takes a beat, but Rom eventually reaches out with a hand of his own and gives this wolf's a firm shake. Dominic. Of the Lord. Which is ironic, considering many would think werewolves were ungodly creatures, but that's just something else he's come to terms with over the years. At the end of the day, people are idiots.
"Romulus," he returns, finally releasing Dominic's hand. "Y'can call me Rom if you'd rather; it's not a name I reserve for friends."
"Yeah. Hunters. I’m very sure I shook ‘em off,” he tells the other with a squint. Shoulders roll before he settles against a nearby counter, allowing a sigh to tumble from his lips. He isn’t sure whether that’s out of relief or weariness. A laugh follows. "A hybrid. — A cocktail, if you’d like. A product of a seraph ‘n a demon’s copulation."
"So you're a halfbreed?" Romulus asks. The words are out before he remembers that some people take offense to that sort of thing (cut to the memory of the daughter of a jiangshi and a nymph practically breaking his arm thanks to that word) and the wolf quickly backpedals, lest he be harmed. "Hybrid. Yeah. You're the first one 'a you lot I've ever met. Seraph-demon, I mean. Met plenty 'a crossbr-- hybrids. Before. Over the years."
"Then how come you aren’t looking for one to join?" It’s not so much human curiousity that drives the question off of his tongue and across his lips. "— If I’m not intruding, I mean."
"Maybe I just suppose I don't rightly deserve one," Rom shrugs. True enough, though something he's never honestly admitted before right this very moment. He doesn't want to bring another pack to its knees, end up getting people that matter killed. "Besides, who wants a runt for a packmate unless they're your blood, eh? Not a lot 'a folk."
"I have t'say the best bit about wakin' up and hearin' about some animal terrorizin' the greater part 'a Chicago is absolutely nothin'."
Looks like it's time for a game of Who Did I Kill Last Night?
"Yeah, I guess so." If it got any worse, she’d probably have to see a doctor. Ech. "—Who are you, by the way?"
"Name's Romulus," he says, offering a smile a moment later. "Y'can call me Rom if y'think it's too weird a name."
With a shrug, the blonde folds her arms over her stomach. "Well, it is something that just happens sometimes.” Sure, she figures she knows exactly why. One too many hits to the head, which is the unfortunate part. "It’s not a big deal. Not like I do anything important anyways."
Romulus opens his mouth, then shuts it again and nods his head. Hey, he never listens to advice from strangers, so he's not really sure if she will either. Why bother? "Right. Suppose if it isn't a big deal, you needn't worry, then."
circumlupus replied to your post:
"Were you drunk?"
"Nah, I don’t drink much anymore. I guess it’s just natural?"
Rom narrows his eyes, not really buying that. "Doesn't exactly sound natural."
Well, that’s a humbling answer. For once, He doesn’t feel as bold as to dive deeper into what’s caused this poor lad’s trouble. "I regret hearing that," He will however give after a few moments of silence, flashing the other a most human look of apology. "Do you wish to be taken in by one, though?"
Lying to God seems a little... wrong, though Romulus isn't even too sure that lying is an option. The truth slips from his lips almost effortlessly, even though he's told countless other wolves the complete opposite for so many years.
"More than almost anythin' else," he nods. "I'd be safer, for one. Hunters may be dwindlin' in number but y'only need one or two t'take down a lone wolf. I'm also rather sick 'a seein' my friends die, truth be told."
He looks the other over once more. It’s typical; this vessel didn’t pay much attention to observing another before. It was just one of those feelings… —
"I see. Interesting. In my many, many years of existence, I’ve never gotten to meet one of you in person. I suppose I have been able to watch you from a distance, but it’s all a lot different when you stand opposite to someone. — You come from a clan or pack of werewolves then?”
"I do come from one but my clan's gone," he admits. It's clearly something that bothers him. It's his own fault, of course, and Romulus isn't going to pretend otherwise, but it's still painful. Strange to think he'd have a completely different life if only he hadn't brought those hunters back. "No pack has taken me in, either. Can't say I've been searchin'."

He grants the other his moment of silence; of silent contemplation in regards to what information he was just offered. In all truth, He has little trust in being believed, considering that so many people have either completely lost their faith and-or simply revel in the doubt they hold toward God’s and Heaven’s existence.
Well, here he is.
"Crab cakes? — Ah, that’s probably my dinner. I had crab. Your sense of smell is amazing. You’re a werewolf, are you not?"
Romulus suddenly finds that he has to fight the childish desire to bury his face into-- well, God's shirt just to try and see exactly what a god is supposed to smile like other than what he's just eaten. He manages not to, though only with something like a great effort.
It'd be nice to catch His scent for future reference.
"Yeah," he confirms. "Can't tell you exactly what type, though; not even I know. Kind you're born with, though. I get all that full moon shit, too."
meets god tells him he smells like crab cakes
"Never longer than I have, son." Another look around this garage of his before his head snaps back to where it was a few seconds ago. "God. That is who I am. The Creator; the Lord; all the names you may have for the almighty up in Heaven."
God.
Romulus has seen countless wars started in His name, innocent people killed because it's apparently His Will, and his own belief has been destroyed and pulled back from the ashes only to be destroyed again over all the years he's been alive. And apparently He's real.
Rom sniffs slightly.
"In that case, Heaven smells a bit like crab cakes, mate."
"Confused it is, then." Guess after guess; all wrong. He does not blame the boy, however. "I’m not quite sure if the answer to your question would be considered believable even by a supernatural creature such as yourself, my boy."
"Are y'gonna make me keep guessing?" he asks, looking a bit worried by the idea. There are a lot of so-called mythical creatures that he can go through, though he supposes that he does have the time for it. "I've been around a long while. I believe more than y'might think."
