Insatiable Appetite || Jaehyo&Min
Something about Min pushed his buttons, strangely enough, though it wasn’t for the reasons one would expect. Childish and immature he could handle –people like that were easily influenced. She was somehow both that and too clever for his tricks. A combination like that was enough to give him a headache, and he groaned a bit to himself as he realized that this little airhead would require him stepping up his game if he was going to make this work. The first hurdle was usually the largest, after all, so he couldn’t expect to be too surprised that her hurdle was so much larger than the others… Heh, the innuendo that produced reminded him while he was doing this all in the first place.
Leaning forward, he prepared to lay on the charm, while laying off the cliché cheese that he might be guilty of spewing out when he wasn’t really trying. Girls ate it up, either way, so he didn’t really condemn using it. “Why?” His eyes softened, it all carefully staged, him reading into her words, even if his assumption wasn’t a correct one, “You don’t think someone as beautiful as you deserves this kind of thing? This kind of person?” Jaehyo gestured at himself, before redirecting his attention back to her. “You got a rather strange view. I mean, I know I don’t seem like the most trustworthy guy in the world, but what would I gain from taking an obvious virgin out? I mean, you guys are the hardest type to crack.” Blunt sounding honesty could either set him far back, or give him an advantage, depending on how Min would interpret it. It seemed almost tasteless, but it might give him some honesty that he was sorely lacking.
Granted her insult had him freeze with a false smile on his lips for a moment, before he blew it off as her likely not knowing that she had even insulted him. After all, that was the type of girl Min was, no? The blinking confirmed his question and he took a silent deep breath to steady himself, as he prepared to continue worming his way into her trust. Completely ignoring her question about girls sneaking out on him, knowing that there was no good way to answer that, he answered the other instead, replying with a teasing, “Curiosity and a bit of selfish desire to be seen in public with one of the prettiest girls I know. Vain, I know, but I love having beautiful company.”
He finished up his food and then ordered his own slice of black forest cake, along with the drinks to go with, before he had thought through the best way to reply to her annoyance. Meeting her gaze, he replied with a simple, “That’s the honest truth. I wanted a nice date with a pretty girl that I didn’t know. Perhaps it was cocky of me, but things usually fall into place. Now. Tell me something about you? I’ve talked far too much this evening.” Lacing his fingers together, he rested his elbows on the table as he watched his companion with a genuinely inquisitive look, hoping to distract her until the dessert and drinks came.
A lump formed in her throat as she watched Jaehyo's ever shifting facial expressions, Min struggled to read this man, he seemed to be cocky, confident and the typical bloke who used women to whatever extent he could, whilst at the same time he seemed sweet and genuinely interested in the currently timid Minyoung. But maybe this was all part of his plan? He knew kindness would work therefore he was still the former, or was he only the former because women threw themselves at him? It was all too confusing for her yet Min could slowly feel herself falling for him. Despite her best efforts not too.
"Are you... trying to say that you're something special?" The insult was unintentional yet she would later reflect and applaud herself on such words, the truth was she was simply trying to wrap her heads around his words. Did she 'deserve' him? He was indeed handsome and she had wanted to be close to him a long time ago, yet was too scared to do so. Though Min wouldn't admit it she enjoyed being complimented as such, a small blush appearing upon her face without her knowledge. Despite her innocence, the next words were obvious and cut her deeply. All his compliments from before were made null and void by his one comment about her 'obvious virginity'.
Anger she had never truly felt before welled up inside of her, causing the girl to stand and slam her palms upon the table, her focus so skewed that she didn't notice the plate hovering an inch above the wooden table, her anger causing the control over her powers to lessen considerably. "You are either trying to say that you're taking pity on me because I obviously haven't got laid, or you're silently saying that you're just looking for another trophy to add to your collection, is that it!?" She pursed her lips and refused to break contact with his eyes, hoping he would see just how serious she was.
She ignored his other words, waving the compliments away to make it clear she no longer cared. "You're so much like boys from school, and that was, what, six years ago? Which means you really are nothing special at all." The outburst was completely unlike something from Min, however it was clear that she was at the end of her tether, seething and unable to think of anything to say to him.
"Forget it, I'm leaving." She finally muttered, before turning on her heel to exit the cafe, tears prickling her eyes from both rage and sadness. Perhaps it would have been better to just spend the night in, or go seek out Chunji and talk to someone who actually cared.
